| Bodiless Chassis Width
I remember the drama about the shocks being the measuring point on the Beetlejuice chassis when it first came out, but was their a final ruling on that, or was it just a "it depends on the judge" kind of thing? When I'm judging or running tech, im fine with measuring from the shock standoffs, but couldn't find or remember if their was anything final on that issue. Thanks. |

Here's the chassis in question: The chassis measures 2.5" wide. When appropriate shock mounts are added, it measures more than 3" wide, but we were unsure of where the measurement needs to be taken. |

as the current 2009 rule stands, it is just overall width(so its good). But the intention of that rule was overlooked in the wording somehow(at least to half of the committee). So the rules committee has been going through the rules for 2010, to give us enough time to close some loopholes.. I can't remember at this time if it was a final decision or not yet, but I know the rockshow has changed to its new 2 panel setup, so that it measures 3" at the A and B pillars of the cab area(basically outside of tvp panel to outside of panel) and looks great and takes any question out that it meets the 3" mark |

| Any changes to the wording of the Rules will not go into effect until 2010. Based on the discussions I have read in Rules Committee I believe both V1 and V2 Rockshows will be legal in 2010. |

don't you guys in the rules committee think it is weird that a 2.2 and a super both have the same width requirement? seems to me that the 2.2 should be slightly smaller. hey but what do i know. | |

Not to revive an old thread, but I'm working on a Bodiless and was wondering if there was any news about the new rule for the width. Currently I plan to space the side plates out to 3"s at the hood and window lines at the skid it would be 2.5". It's a custom chassis design so no reference pics are available at the moment. |

I have a few questions on this as well. It would be great if some from the rules committee could PM us, that would be great... -Jason |

I too would like to know about the width. I'm in the planning stages for my Karnage2 Chassis, and want to know what's legal. One other thing I wanted to know on bodiless is this: A bodied vehicle needs to be a minimum of 3" tall, but a bodiless needs to be a minimum of 3.75". Why the extra .75" for the bodiless? I've noticed with the tunnels we have here, some of them are tight squeezes for the 3" bodies, so the 3.75" bodiless height makes it almost impossible (in this specific tunnel.) Also, with the extra height turtled rollovers are also harder, makes it so the tires are further from the ground and harder to flip back over. Why not make it the same height requirement for both? Ricky, I think the OP's question related to whether or not the shock standoffs were considered a part of the chassis to be considered for the overall width. What about my question as far as why a bodied vehicle can be shorter than a bodiless vehicle? (Dimension C from your post.) |

Thanks Rickey, crystal clear IMO. MR I can't say for sure but I would think the reason for the different Dims is to give the bodiless some different limitations than the bodied, make you kinda think about your setup and weigh out the pro's and con's. Just a guess. |
