Everything looks just incredible B-mow. 1st rate on everything. The kicker for me is the keg of Coors Latte the little dude is holding! AWESOME. Need one to put in the back of my Ultra!

Real nice touch on those gauges. They add a lot to the interior depth.

x2 on powershift light kits. Solid value and great quality from them.

Truck is coming along great

Thanks! I appreciate that!

Ha Ha! I see you spotted my brew! No garage is complete without a keg of ice cold beer! In my case, Coors Light!

Hey thanks TB! Yeah I thought the interior need a little something and these worked out great! I just hope the tach doesn't get knocked off! It is a pain to remove the interior once it is bolted in!

I agree on the Powershift products. Great quality for little dollars! It definitely saves me the trouble and time of having to solder up my own lights. The light kit I made for my Origin took me a few hours to make. Won't make that mistake again!

Third item on the list is a set of RC4WD Mojave II Rubber Mirrors. These mirrors are great and are my goto for mirror scale points. Since these are rubber, they will not get broken off on the first rock to scrape against them. I have them installed on my SCX10.2, TRX-4 Sport and my Origin. I have yet to rip one of these off.

Before I install them, I cut off the rubber piece on the back side that is used to hold them on with a body clip. I then drill a hole thru them and attach them to the body with a 3mm button head screw and locknut. Adding the screw and nut keeps them tight against the body so that they will not turn when they get bumped and also keep them from getting ripped off.

I didn't realize there was different color LED kits. I only saw this kit which is has the bright LED's. The yellow bulbs would look more scale to the old school body design.

I "borrowed" some of the foam strips from work awhile back. I use these strips on all of my rigs. It really helps to cushion the battery and helps keep it secure. We get it from McMaster-Carr. It is in a roll, but the price is good. It would last you a lifetime of builds too!

Here is a screenshot:

That is not a very good pic. It is a foam neoprene with adhesive backing. 1/8" thick x 1/2" wide, 50' roll for $6.68. Part #8694K16
Thank you! For under $7 a roll I'm in. I'll pickup some hardware at the same time.

The RC4WD mirrors look awesome as well.

And now for the last item that I installed. I decided to fabricate a fuel cell out of styrene. All credit for the design of the fuel cell goes to RCC member @J55TTC (RC Adventure UK). I want to give a big thanks to him for posting this awesome idea in his build thread. Here is a link to his thread:410 Pro build

This is my very first attempt at working with styrene, so please be kind! Just kidding, all criticism is accepted! This really is a very simple styrene project and I'm hoping this will kick me in the butt to start working with styrene more in the future.

The fuel cell filler piece I 3D printed. I found it on Thingiverse, but at the moment I cannot remember who shared the file. Big thanks to whoever designed it and when I figure out who did I will add the user here.

Here are the pics of the steps I took to make this piece:

And here is the finished fuel cell. I used Rust-oleum 2X Ultra Cover Satin Apple Red and hand painted the gray straps and fuel cell filler with cheap Walmart craft paint. I then added a couple coats of Tamiya PS55 Flat Clear to seal everything.

I used rare earth magnets glued down with E6000 to hold the fuel cell in place.

Here is the fuel cell installed. The purpose of this is to hide the body clips and also serve as a fuel cell scale point. The piping on the fuel cell filler will be used as a handle to remove the fuel cell from the bed of the PRO.

All in all I think it turned out ok. I'm looking forward to doing some other more sophisticated styrene work in the future.

Thanks for taking a peek!

That fuel cell is spot on! I haven’t used styrene in, oh 44 yrs? Yeah, it was 6th grade and I built several WWII dioramas. That was fun!

I see so many great builders doing absolutely fabulous work with styrene. I’m going to try my hand a tube fabrication on my SCX-10 II build.

Anywho, terrific work!
Cheers

Hey thanks doc!

Yeah, styrene isn't all that bad to work with. I've been putting off working with it because I thought is would be hard to work with. Now I can't wait to build something else!

Tube fabrication is the next project on my list of things to try! I've been working on my GCM J2 Skeleton on and off and am looking to build a roll cage for the Jeep 2 door body that is on it. I have all the materials to build it. I've been struggling on getting the bends right on the tubes. I need a lot more practice at that! The brazing shouldn't be a problem, though I haven't brazed in about 30 years.

First up is the lights. I bought a set of Powershift RC lights designed for the VS4-10. On my Origin I made up a set of LED lights from scratch and this time I decided to try out the Powershift set. This is a great LED kit for the price! It comes complete and ready to install. I installed a set of these on my Marlin last year and have great luck with them.
What are you powering the lights with? From your receiver or battery? I just picked these up too. In your picture they look plenty bright.

Your truck looks amazing BTW!

Hey thanks!

I run the lights straight off of the battery. I solder leads on the ESC plug that plugs into the battery. Since these lights will handle 12v, it is much better to run it thru the battery than the receiver IMO.

A tiny update on the PRO. I've been wanting to make a roll bar for the PRO out of some brake line and try my hand at brazing, but I never had the time to sit down and figure out how to make one.

So I recently ordered the Knight Customs roll bar designed for the VS4-10 PRO on Shapeways. After about a 2 week wait, it arrived.

I really like the way it looks bolted on. I've always thought that the rear end needed something so that it didn't look so plain.

It will work for now until I can get myself motivated enough into designing, bending and brazing a real metal roll bar!

Thanks man!

I'm gonna guess you got a PRO! That's awesome! Yeah, get a build thread started. Can't wait to see it! The PRO is a beast of a machine!

I've noticed that most Castle systems have been out of stock for awhile now. Waiting sucks!
