Thanks! Yeah, I am also interested in how these Dravtechs do. Paint scheme...yes. Should have it done this weekend. It's been way to humid to paint anything outdoors the past few days. I just learned that the hard way with my Enduro!

New update! I was going to wait to build the new VFD transmission last, but I couldn't wait any longer. You can tell a ton of thought and planning went into this design just by how well this all fits together. A really nice touch is the bearing plates that are used to house the bearings. This will keep all of the gears in perfect alignment for just the right amount of gear mesh. It will also make it nice to be able to swap out for different gear ratios for the OD.

I left out the motor for now as I plan on robbing my 1900kv Slate motor out of my SCX10.2. My plan is to buy a new 3800kv Slate, but at the moment they seem to be sold out everywhere.

Hey, while I'm here I'm going to throw in another quick update!

I bolted up the VFD trans and painted the inner fenders. I painted both sides of the fenders with Tamiya PS-5 Black and then sprayed Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear over the black on both sides. The flat clear gives a nice dull look and holds up very well.

Nice job with the pics, and yes it is a very fun kit to put together!! When I sold my Origin I kept my big bore shocks, I may try them on my pro.
It will be interesting to see the direction you go with paint!

So my Pro build had a slight delay. I was reading through new2rocks' VS4-10 Pro build thread and read that someone (sorry I forget who that was at the moment) had asked a question about having some play in their rear axle shaft, so I decided to check my axle out.

I noticed on my Pro that I too had quite a bit of play in the rear axle also. I took the hex off and noticed the hex pin was rubbing on the bearing cap. I checked my Origin and there was hardly any side to side movement and there was about 1mm of space between the hex and the bearing cap.

So I decided to take the axle shafts out of my Origin and place them into the Pro axle. Once I had them installed, all of the side to side play was gone, so I figured that the Pro axle shafts had to be different. I placed the Pro shafts in my Origin and had the same problem with the pin hitting the bearing cap.

I immediately emailed VP and told them of the problem I was having. Thanks to VP's outstanding customer service, they sent me a new set of axle shafts right away. I compared these replacement shafts with my Origin shafts and they looked identical. I installed them into the Pro rear axle and found that all of the play was gone and the hex pin had plenty of clearance.

Big THANKS to Michael at VP for getting this issue resolved and getting the shafts shipped out right away.

Here are a few pics:

You can see here that the pin is rubbing the bearing cap. Luckily at this point I had not yet installed the motor or electronics and had not driven it yet.

In the next two pics, the top shaft is out of my Origin. The bottom shaft is the new Pro.

And the replacement shafts that are identical to the Origin shafts.

I have purchased many VP products over the years including the VS4-10 Origin and now the VS4-10 Pro and this is the only issue that I have ever had with their products.

So once again, big THANKS to VP's customer service!

It's always good to hear when a manufacturer steps up like this, appreciate you posting about it!

I agree! They do take care of their customers.

Onto a few more updates!

I pulled my Mamba X and 1900kv Slate motor out of my SCX10.2 that hasn't seen any action in over a year. I will eventually put these back in once I get a new Mamba X for the PRO. I'll be using a 4ch. Spektrum receiver that i had in my spare parts bin and it will be placed into a Traxxas receiver box.

My plan was to run the Dravteck shocks, but after installing them, I can't seem to get the ride height that I need. With the medium springs and without electronics, motor or battery, the Pro sits bottomed out on the shocks. I was hoping to get some droop but not 100% droop. So I ordered a set Losi Mini-T front springs and plan on trying the firm springs.

While I wait on the springs to arrive, I went ahead and built the stock Incision shocks. I pulled them completely apart and added Green Slime to the seals. I ended up getting 3000cst diff fluid to put in the shocks. I wanted to try something a little different in these shocks.

On my VS4-10 Origin Incision shocks, I ran 40w front and 70w rear shock fluid. I wasn't really liking how the shocks felt with that fluid. This 3000cst fluid feels much better.

I mounted them on the PRO and I really like how these feel. I may give these shocks a shot and see how well they do. I will eventually put the Dravtech's back on and try to get them tuned.

Thanks man!

Since this is my very first set of Dravtech’s, I’ve got some learning to do! I’m hoping the springs I have ordered will add enough stiffness to them to get the ride height where I want it.

I’ve always wanted to try a set of these shocks and I’m going to be p’d off if I can’t make them work!

Last night I moved on to getting some paint put on my driver. I am using the RC4WD Scale Driver Figure. This driver figure fits perfectly inside the interior that comes with the Origin and the Pro.

I am using some cheap paint that I picked up at Walmart. I normally put two coats on and it holds up very well to the elements. This will be the third RC4WD driver that I have painted with these paints and have not had any issue with the paint chipping or flaking. It adheres very well and leaves a nice matte finish.

I also put down the first layers of paint on the interior.

The weather here has finally cooled down and the humidity level has dropped so I'm hoping to finish up the body this weekend.

Progress!

Love that transmission. Every time I see it the FOMO increases. Looking forward to seeing this one all wrapped up.

I have used those same paints for a couple years now. I even did a couple bodies with them. Just needed to thin out the paint a tad but it held up perfectly fine. Just used a satin clear to seal the paint and all is good. It's like .65cents a bottle so it's not hard on the wallet to pick up several colors.

Yeah, I really like these paints. Can't beat the price! I was going to spray a satin finish on mine, but never got around to it. I was worried that after they got wet and muddy that the paint would fade away, but so far so good. I may take my drivers back out this winter and spray some clear on them just to be safe.

When using the those paints you definitely need to seal them with some type of clear coat being that they are water based.

I finally had a chance this weekend to get the body and interior painted. The weather here was fantastic for painting (and crawling too, but that didn't happen).

Anyways here is how the interior and driver turned out. I used Tamiya PS-62 Pure Orange for the seats and dash pad. The rest of the interior is Tamiya PS-5 Black. I sprayed Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear over the entire top surface to give it a dull look.

I still have a little more work left to do on the body. I'm hoping to get it wrapped up tomorrow after work.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to shot them with some clear coat. It's kinda hard to see in this pic, but this is my driver in my Origin. He has been submerged a few times and survived the mud pit at Team KNK TTC6 this year. He starting to get a little faded. I think now that he has had a little "real world" weathering that it is time for him to get cleared!
