I wish you'd offer your wheels in raw.

Great to see a Brandon build again. I still remember your entry to the "Baller Build off" a few years back. I believe you won that didn't you?

Did some finish sanding on the body and painted the hood / grill flat black. Still need to get the lenses, windows, and body detailing finished up.

Front bumper is completed as well. Maddog RC fairlead mount was brazed to the solid 3/16 steel bumper. It mounts to the chassis with .100" plate straight off the frame rails. I mounted the driver side between the chassis and panhard mount then adjusted the length of the panhard link accordingly.

Interior is good enough for now, I want to keep it extra light. I did change the VFD trans top gear cover to the molded shifters, lines up perfectly with the driver!

Swapped back to narrow VP wheels, I didnt care for the added width with the 105's. Will be on the rocks soon.

Thanks Norm! Yes I did win that one. Definitely the peak of my free time / willingness to scratch build. Those days are LONG gone. On the flip side I get to design in CAD and still see cool stuff come to life. No complaints!

I hate black wheels on my rigs, but I love them when I see them in photos especially with different colored rings. They look great on this truck.

What interior is that?

I think its a Wraith Spawn interior. Decals are a mixture of VS4-10 and UMG, aka what was on my bench within reach.

Bumper looks awesome and fits the body well!

Cool to see that the shifters lined up with the interior. Can't wait to see it mounted up!

Happy Birthday! Hope it's a good one!

I actually got to drive that beauty a little bit. It's always been inspiring to watch you're builds. ...

Thanks! We just released those wheels in a bronze color last month too. I still need to grab a set of those, they look really good.

Awesome you got to drive it. Its a far cry from the rigs today but at the time I was very proud of the balance of scale/performance.

In case anybody is wondering which FJ you are talking about, pics below!

Brandon, lots of cool stuff going on in this build. Thank you for sharing. I really like that you went with the little Toyota body for this one. I actually was digging the bed. Can you incorporate the bed sides? Lol. I like it brother.

Not sure why I hadn’t seen this before. I really need to pick one of these kits up soon. Haven’t touched a crawler/scaler in far too long.

Brandon, I noticed you had the ears from the trimmed servo mount facing towards the transmission in what would appear to be a closer than stock position. In doing so, does that put the pinion at the correct angle to keep the driveline level with the lower links, or will I still need to lengthen the uppers as touched upon in Josh's gear calc vid?
I'm looking forward to butchering my new portal later this week using your pics as a guide, so thanks for posting those.

Thanks Dean! Its going to get slightly modified to prepare for Crawlmasters in March. No portals, no dig. Should be a quick fix. Ill drop in the OD plates in the VFD and adjust the rear suspension a bit. Losing the dig, servo, and portal should give me some more forward bias as well.

Ill have to check. I think I adjusted the links to bring the portal box back into position (square with the horizon). I adjust / change links as needed without ever really putting much thought into it.
