Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom 1 Attachment(s) Just uploaded a new video to YouTube for anyone interested. Can’t embed here yet so here’s a link... if any of you have smart 4k TVs this should be available in 4K too. https://youtu.be/JmeSfxSdep8 Quote:

Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom Excellent work, my dude! Lou |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom Thanks! This one will be revived here in the next couple weeks. Decided to plop the Rock Van body here since I still can’t find a jp1 in the states. |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom 4 Attachment(s) As always, plans change and new ones are made. You may have read in the scx10iii thread that I’ve since sold the 10.3 as a slider and kept the body. I decided to take a stab at mounting the JLU on the vs4-10 without body posts. The front was a piece of cake. The mounts are separate pieces for the front, and simply screw into the chassis/bumper mount on the outside of the rail. These lined up well with the holes on the chassis already, to a point. The main hole is the only one you really need (twss) but if you wanted more than one screw holding the body mount then you’d have to tap a new hole in the mount or the rail. It’s plenty sturdy with one screw so I didn’t bother. The rear was a different story, the whole bumper mount receiver box and brace are all one big piece on the vs4-10. The axial body mounts in the rear are actually integrated into the bumper mount, unlike the front where they were separate. To use the axial mount some chopping would have been needed so I looked for alternatives. With the interior in, it sits right on top of the shock towers so busted out some trusty shoe goo and stuck some magnets on the body post towers and underneath the interior of the JLU body. These magnets are very strong but I have no problems pulling the body off so hopefully it will last. On a related note, I ditched the 12” wb and went for the 12.3”. Lookin forward to driving this one again. |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom Welp, that just put me over the edge. I’ll probably be ordering a chassis and vfd late July. Damn it man. Lou |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom Glad to see the JLU body back in use! It looks great on this chassis. Should definitely perform better too! Now I’m thinking maybe I should just pick up this body and put it on my VFD Origin instead of getting the SCX10.3! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Dude, it's just sick with the Blazer body!!!!! I'm going to try and use the 63 or 64, whatever it is, from Proline on a pro chassis. I've never jacked with mounting a body from scratch. This gives me hope. Looks badass! |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom looks great with the JL body on it. if the ShoeGoo doesn't work out, i've had good luck with countersunk magnets and an actual screw attachment https://www.aamagnet.com/view/source..._526962209.jpg |

That ain’t a bad idea at all right there. May not be too hard to find a take off body from a kit with all the bits and pieces. Quote:

Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom 1 Attachment(s) Spent some time with this rig today and almost lost it forever  It’s been a while since I drive this one but I had a lot of fun. it’s quite different driving this than it is the flat rail chassis builds but the challenge was fun, with the weight of the body and all. Here’s a still photo of the moment I thought it was all over, and a clip I caught of the line. https://www.instagram.com/p/CGvTQRij...d=hh8g3dbvh5v5 |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom Ballsy, ballsy line my dude. Lou |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom Great build as always from you. Im more of a Blazer guy over Jeeps, but both look great. Yeah that looks like a high risk climb! Impressed you pulled it off. |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom That's a great still pic TB!"thumbsup" If that was me up there, I'd probably need some oxygen and a new pair of underwear!:lmao: Maybe even 911! Glad to see you both survived!;-) |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom 4 Attachment(s) Thanks fellas! "thumbsup" Here are some more pics from the day... still thinking about swapping back to black beadlock rings but have been too lazy to deal with all the screws. |
Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom What are your thoughts on those tires? |

Re: Topher pieces together a VFD VS4-10 Custom What is the real world height of the tire? I am looking at the RC4WD Iroks for mine but these may be a good option too... Lou |
