| akumu: vs4-10 custom build
So i was not too happy with how heavy the Origin kit was and eneded up removing everything that made it heavy. I actually made an old post about that build. This is a continuation of that build and it is a different beast now, so i hope it's ok to create a new thread about it. This rig now uses an old low-cg chassis i had laying around. It uses a copy of the Toyzuki motor mount and a tcase but in aluminum, almost all the gears from the vs410 tranny was used. The servo and servo winch plastic mounts included with the origin kit was retrofited to work with this chassis. I still dont have a 1060 hobbywing controller for the winch... that will be ordered soon. Bent titanium links are by Samix. to keep the rig lighter, i opted to use a hobbywing 1080 and a Holmes 12T motor. I forgot what sanwa servo model i used, the label is long gone. lol running KLR red compound tires and voodoo foams. currently running the stock incision shocks, they still keep leaking and in one of my rebuilds i did not notice i punctured the diaphram. will replace this with Proline Powerstrokes soon! still testing this build, so far it seems better than the stock origin. Do you have any body-off photos so we can see your chassis setup?

Thanks for posting those photos. I like it. The chassis is all business. Who makes that transmission housing? |

Not really sure of the source, it was offered to me by a friend back when i got this origin kit. There was a handfull created for local vs410 origin owners in the islands, I did asked a month or two ago for a tcase for my Toyzuki v1 motor mount and there was nothing to be had. | |

upgraded the body on this build to a fiberglass Powerwagon body, unfortunately, I dont have any materials to use for the rear bed area so I opted to use the Honcho truggy bed (temporary until i get materials when the lockdown is over). the grill is from thingiverse, printed on my resin printer and custom mounted on the fiberglass body using screws. I also had to add some fenders back, the previous owner of the body cut them and it was not SORRCA legal... it is now 4 inches wide at the front, so this should be legal for a pinched front. Fabricated new sliders using some aluminum sheets i had, hoping they slide better over rocks. I cant really test them on our usual trail since we are on quarantine. I really hope i can fabricate a new bed soon. Thanks for viewing! |

The Power Wagon cab looks awesome! Curious to see how the rest of the body turns out... Cheers Doc |

finally found time to implement some of the customized parts, did the front and rear bumper... i was not the one that brazed it, a neighbor helped me, but in the next week or two i will have my own oxy/acetelyn setup to make my own. made a completely new custom front/rear bumpers, also mocked up the roll bars (partially brazed but with issues i need to fix). made a rear bed with a custom 3d modelled and resin printed fuel cell, the actual bed is PLA i had since the 80's decided to make this a trail rig and use also for none sorrca events (when our trails open back up). thanks for viewing! |
