Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Howdy, I built my Phoenix around yearend and been running it regularly since, even took it to USTE in February where it did really well on the trails. My only complaint was the body whose proportions just didn't look right to me (and I'm a Toyota fan!). https://i.imgur.com/g2gymYM.jpg But anyway, after a recent tumble, sorry for the lousy pic - you can see the rear left side roof partially caved in. https://i.imgur.com/s9cOedN.jpg I decided to see if I could retrofit something more to my liking and chose the K-10 body from Proline. This could work out, but there's about a 12mm gap between the bed rails and cab that needs to be bridged. https://i.imgur.com/M5ffPni.jpg Top view: https://i.imgur.com/zABHFuK.jpg More to follow, if there's interest....... 8) |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix I have some expanded pvc sheet lying around that I've been wanting to play with to fabricate stuff and figure laminating 2 sheets will get me the needed width. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NKDLY2...roduct_details First step is tracing the shape onto the pvc. https://i.imgur.com/gVxrbky.jpg Next cut two copies out and laminate together with E6000 https://i.imgur.com/h2NLnLo.jpg Once this dries, I'll test fit it to the rig :) |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Looking good already! I like seeing something different, the vanquish body is cool but I’ve always like the Proline K10. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Cool, in for the fun project. |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Proportion wise you are right the Chevy body fits much better. |

Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Test fitted the spacer and realized I hadn't accounted for the dig servo that protrudes into that space. Cut a notch to accommodate. For those wondering, expanded pvc is easy to work with, it had the consistency of hard balsa wood, so pretty easy to cut and sand. https://i.imgur.com/qMIRKhM.jpg Mocked-up. Me thinks this will work out :D https://i.imgur.com/5f03tXe.jpg |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Like a glove. Thats a pretty good idea. I was thinkin of gettin a different body myself. Glad i caught this thread! |

Choice of military style finish confirmed (courtesy of Home Depo's inexpensive color samples). I should have this done tomorrow. https://i.imgur.com/fJmcfAR.jpg |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix I've been searching for some alternatives. Only been out once, as a newbie with my lad. We rolled it a few times. :-) Nothing broken body wise. But like yours, not as bad, we can see it crumpled a bit. Not keen on spending 150$ UK side for a shell so looking for options.. |

https://i.imgur.com/vQSEjrb.jpg The spacer turned whitish after sanding the edges smooth, so I hit it with some satin black acrylic. https://i.imgur.com/NrmTLfd.jpg Sand ladders hide the dig servo https://i.imgur.com/Wu5hIhm.jpg And threw a spare on there to dress up the rear (those TRX-4 wheels do serve for something :lmao: ) https://i.imgur.com/OfdheTw.jpg I'm happy with the way this came out, what do you guys think??? https://i.imgur.com/3Lix9d8.jpg |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Oh, and stole the door handles from the now defunct faux FJ body :lmao: |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix IMHO, it's fantastic! Paint choice is on point, as well... "thumbsup" |

Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix Actually that looks awesome. What wheels are they by the way? I was looking to upgrade to incision hubs for the stock rims, and swap out the tyres/tires. But maybe I should get some new rims with the slw hubs. |
Re: Proline Chevy K-10 on Phoenix That looks great! The color is perfect for the look too! Great job on the spacer. I ties the two pieces together perfectly! |
