Steve's VS410 Custom Flatbed Build. 2 Attachment(s) I've been wanting to build a custom crawler ever since I saw B-MOW71's 35 Hot Rod Truck with the Interceptor rails. I decided to make it a flatbed. I'll build my own flatbed for it, an old fashion wood bed. I've been looking around for a cab for quite a while. Nothing caught my eye, I looked at the 1946 Dodge Power Wagon but it's overdone. Then a few days ago I found what I was looking for. The Pro-Line 1966 Chevrolet C-10 12.3" body (cab) will fit the bill perfectly. I'll use the D44 axles I been saving. I'll use the VFD tranny and Incision drive shafts. VP links and other odds and ends. I installed the steering servo a NSDRC RS400 HS low pro, which was left over from not using the dig or od on my previous builds. It being a low pro won't be a problem, it clears the RP servo mount easily. I've also installed a base plate for the Rx box. I cut off the rear shock towers and will either use a cantilever or shocks connected stock bottom and to the frame or rail of the bed. Either way I'll be using some different shocks, front and rear. Will take suggestions on shocks looking for the best built shocks out there. I won't be diving into the build until I finish my two Phoenix's. |

Re: Steve's VS410 Custom Flatbed Build. Just curious - why the servo tray in the rear? |

Re: Steve's VS410 Custom Flatbed Build. 3 Attachment(s) Looking for stock wheels for 1966 Chevy C-10. These are the stock wheels. So far I've narrowed it down to these two. Gmade 1.9 SR03 beadlock wheels or Landies Internal Beadlock Wheels. The Landies look closer to stock but are only five lug, stock C-10 wheels are six lug. Regardless of what wheels are used I will use nuts on the studs for a stock look. Depending on what wheels are used I might have to use set screws for studs so I can use the nuts. If anyone knows of a better choice let me know. |
Re: Steve's VS410 Custom Flatbed Build. 2 Attachment(s) I found the wheels I like, there 1.55 and probably more to scale: 1.55 Yota LC Classic Front Beadlock Wheels (2) with 3mm Wideners (2) Gun Metal. They also come in black, and if I decide I need white I could paint them but I do like the gun metal. They come in sets for front and rear, the C-10 is rear wheel so I'll probably go with two rear sets. |
Re: Steve's VS410 Custom Flatbed Build. Those Boom Racing wheels are nice. Another option could be these from RC4WD https://store.rc4wd.com/Rally-19-Bea...ld_p_7748.html I have them on my Axial F100 and they look great. |
