Brake/Rotor brass weights

I don't know if this is new thread worthy, but I haven't seen anything about them, and thought it was pretty neat that they will be offering this:

VATERRA Brake Caliper/Rotor Weight, Brass; (2), ASN (VTR334021) | Horizon Hobby - Radio Control R/C Planes, RC Airplanes, RC Helis and Helicopters, RC Cars, RC Trucks, RC Truggys, RC Boats, RC Radios, RC Engines, parts, hop-ups, and accessories

Now if I just had pics and knew the weight, it would be even neater. "thumbsup"

Yeah, interested to see a pic of that as well. Price is pretty decent if it is a substantial knuckle weight. I have to imagine that it is knuckle fixed since it says rotor and caliper.

Here is a pic of my test samples. These mount up to the Spindle. It's about an ounce of weight. Not a monster amount but it does make a difference. The idea was to keep it scale while offering some performance advantages. I plan to paint a set to make them look more scale :)

He mentions above that they about one ounce each.

Rich, while I haven't bought an Ascender yet, I can say that you and Vaterra are doing an incredible job with this platform. You're bringing new ideas and new life back into the scaler world that it needed. Thank you for everything you have done with this platform and I can't wait to see you one up yourself with the next one. "thumbsup"

I am really loving Vaterra.
I just won an Ascender last Sunday and I am impressed with the R&D that has gone into it... amazing.

Rich, and correct me if I am seeing things, but it appears that behind that rotor is an aluminum steering knuckle. Am I seeing things?

Yes Those are the Aluminum Spindles set and Carrier set.

VTR334018 Front Spindle Set, Alum: ASN
VTR334019 Front Carrier Set, Alum: ASN

Our website works a little funky but if you go to this link Vaterra Parts

Click on the Ascender and then the options page, we've posted pictures for some of the parts. I"ll get some closer shots to share here soon.

oh man. i am intrigued on those lower links.

Rich, are the weights compatible with the stock knuckles? or you need to get the alum parts for it? i want the brakes for sure, but don't care much about glossy alum. :)

When will all the upgrades be for sale?

Re: Brake/Rotor brass weights

Can anyone verify if you need the upgraded aluminum hubs to use the weights on the rear also?

I don’t 100% know for sure as I don't have them but read that you need the aluminum spindles or else you would have to modify and get creative.

RPP Hobby has many of them in stock and so does my LHS, I've bought mine from both shops.

You need the Vaterra aluminum knuckles as that is what the brake rotor weights bolts to. The plastic knuckles are holding up amazingly well for me, but the aluminum are shaped differently and have drilled an tapped holes for these rotors.

Would just mention that on the bottom of the Horizon page it says each one weights 27 grams "thumbsup"

Wonder if these can be modified to fit a SCX knuckle?

Doesn't The Scale Shop have a similar product?
