Default So how does every one like their Ascender?

Haven't seen much by way of feedback, I really like to looks of this kit, but was concerned about "torque twist".

Ran great, very well balanced and you have to work pretty good to roll it. Then this happened

Running a Holmes BRXL and Holmes 35t on 2s, I got it in a bind and it snapped

2 runs, and 2 broken rear drive shafts within 15 mins on each run. It can stay parked. And that's 14t pinion, RC4WD 55T $10 motor, Axial WP ESC.

My concern is the torque twist. in the videos it looks so awkward, and I would think it has to affect performance.

HI Guys,
As I've mentioned before the settings for the slipper are the important factor here. Having it set to 5 1/2 to 6 Turns out will help dramatically. I am looking into getting these beefier for future production. MIP should be announcing their new drives shafts for the Ascender soon for those that are running bigger power.

Please feel free to contact our customer service dept too. I'll do my best to answer questions here as much as possible but for questions about defective or broken parts you will have to contact customer service direct.

Thanks,
Rich

This isn't possible. Right there on the box it states "A tough-as-nails, 4wd scaler". Tough as nails, my friend. That's like breaking metal.

I haven't bought a truck yet that didn't need better driveshafts, so I guess it isn't a surprise.

I don't understand this. I beat the snot out of my Twin hammers, and its heavy in the configuration that I have it set up. I have the slipper locked all the way down, run 3S at high speed, jump it, beat it on high traction surfaces etc. My stock driveshaft performs like a champ. The only thing I don't do is get a wheel stuck and try to power through it, nor do I run a locker.

I have seen videos of people breaking driveshafts and know many of them break from seemingly standard usage. Sorry for the issues people have had, but I don't understand how this happens. I must run my rigs differently. Apparently enough power to do a standing backflip is not enough to break these things for most people...

I beefed mine up from the initial build. I know better. plus, the male side did look a little thin for my tastes. Run beefed up stock shafts on all my rigs w/o issues, and don't expect any here.

Agree, the slipper is there for a reason. No need to have it fully locked.

Mine never fully broke. It cracked down the splines and twisted like a pretzel but is still in tact...just very very out of round LOL... just spoke to horizon customer service and they have new ones on the way. Anxiously awaiting the MIP solution also. Going to try a twin hammers rear shaft just incase the Horizon parts don't come before the weekend competitions. I'll let you guys know if the TH rear prop fits the Ascender.

Overall I'm happy with it, I'm sure the butchered Rock Crushers aided in blowing them apart though

Wellll Rich being the awesome dude that he is, just messaged me back. He said the Twin Hammers and Ascender share the same shaft. Going to slap a TH MIP in it and call it good.

Just the rear matches the twin hammers.

Whether or not the driveshafts are up the task of modern motors or heavy trigger fingers, the guy is offering options on how to get customers up and running quickly with optional parts. Can't say we see much of that. Gotta respect the attention to image and voice of the customer.

Really like mine a lot especially after replacing body with Comanche body, drive shafts leave a lot to be desired though. Not unlike stock driveshafts made by anyone.. it is a very capable truck with many stock parts that are up grades elsewhere. Anxiously awaiting MIP's which in my belief will make this one really fine crawler
