Default Splits' Ascender

The roller will be here tomorrow. Unfortunately, this thread will probably be moving slowly considering the aftermarket parts available at this time. So, let's start with the wheels and tires. The wheels are Gearhead champ 190's that I raped off the scx10. The Pitbull rockbeasts just showed up today. Got them with the closed cell foams. Two things that I really like about these...first, they are really soft and sticky!! Second, they are the easiest to mount tires I've ever had. Both beads literally fell into place without any issue whatsoever. The Vaterra HD drive shafts are available now, so I have a set on the way. That's all I've got for today.

Goodbye treps, hello rockbeast!!

Rockbeast mounted!!

Gonna use this for power. I have three of them and the HH I have is dead, so here we go.

Alright!! The rig showed up today. I must say, it's in the condition I was expecting...like it was hardly run. I just had to plug in that roof light to try it...red and blue flashing just like a cop.

1.9 PL swamper xl's on weighted PL 2.2 eight shooters. You can hear the tires breathe a sigh of relief when I unmounted them.

Goodbye stock battery mount, you're getting replaced by one from JCAD.

The trans outputs have double flats to capture two set screws. I'm not sure if I like this better than the through hole with the threaded pin on the Axial.

The drive shafts seem to be keyed so they can only go together one way. The other thing is they bind big time. The front was bad, the rear was completely horrible. The splines and shafts themselves are in mint condition, so I can't understand why they are doing this. I have a set of the Vaterra HD shafts on the way. Hopefully, they will have better fitment otherwise I'll be placing an order for MIP's.

Other than that, all the drive gear is smooth and slop free, unlike the scx10. I had to check to see if the input shaft had any play, and there was zero.

I love it! Digging the lights need to get some on mine! Gonna stick some 5mm LEDs wired to a small battery pack in the bumper soon, my son wants to drive it in the dark lol. You should do a short vid of it out in a dark area all lights on.

Oh that's awesome! My son loves it lol. Now you can roll up on everyone else scaling and write them scale trespassing and no mudflap tickets! I need to get another one how much did you get that roller for if I can ask that?

I was also thinking of doing a mod on the RTR to get rid of those dam driveshaft set screws and put the screw pins in

That's pretty funny!! Considering I'll be running it on a 4 cell, I'll be able to catch anyone.

I will. I just got the email last night that they are shipped. Hopefully they show up by Friday. If they turn out to be a bust, an order will go in for a set from MIP immediately.
