| Ascender Build with upgrades!!
Hi everyone, Welcome to my build topic. My first thread on this forum too even if I've been around for two years. I bought an Ascender Kit in november for a winter project. I wanted to try it since I already have a SCX10 Rubicon kit. Before I started to assemble the kit I went in different hobbyshops to buy some parts already. Here's the parts list: -Vaterra Ascender Blazer K5 1986 Kit -1.9 RC4WD Steel stamped chrome wheels -1.9 Pitbull Growler tires -G-Made XD Piggyback 113mm Shocks -G-Made G-Transitions 1/10 scale shocks -MIP Driving shafts -Axial Aluminium servo horn (hits the panhard bar because it's too big) Electronics: I searched a lot to be sure of my choice. I have a Novak Goat 3s brushless sensored combo in my SCX10 and wanted something similar and reliable. I also wanted to try a brushed setup to see the difference so I went with Holmes Hobbies combo. -HH BR-XL ESC -HH TorqueMaster Pro 540 (35T) -SR300 Receiver for my DX4C radio -Servo Savox 1210SG Waterproof Incoming parts: JCAD Battery and electronics plate (ordered) JCAD RULR (ordered) HD Vaterra Ascender differential pinion gears New aluminium horn Kit and parts pictures: The colors I chose for the Blazer body Pictures of the build coming soon... Building of the G-Made Piggyback XD shocks Really nice shocks and well made Transmission building Building the axles Love the clearance of the axles and the high steering Changed the shocks for G-Transitions from G-Made too.. I wanted lower the truck and have a little bit more flex. Now the truck seems to run very smooth and has great flex! Shocks and much smaller too, looks more scale. Painted body, custom LED kit and fender liners to come |

Looks great! Just got my kit today. Have you run those tires before, and if so how do you like them?

What sequence did you do when painting the body? Which color went on first and so on? I have never painted a clear body. I have only done vinyl wraps and hard bodies. Could you add a picture of the underside of the body. Thanks |

I did start by putting the windows and lights masking decals. Then I applied a product named Fasmask. It's a liquid mask that dries and and can be removed as easy as masking tape. I did the all the white color before and the blue after. I didn't put backing paint. The silver stripes and made with a silver Sharpie on the outside of the body. I'll post a pic later. |

Love the overall look it has with those wheels and that color, any chance to see it with the stock tires on one of those wheels?

| Re: Ascender Build with upgrades!! To be honest, mounting these tires on these wheels was a pain in the a**. Took me about 4 hours to mount the four wheels :(.. So I wish I don't have to remove them for a while hahahaha. Sorry for not helping you on this.
