Default Are the Kits & RTR's fixed now?

I've read most of the posts on this forum and can't tell. Is the pinion and axle issues still an issue? I'm going to buy one soon what do you recommend?

You'll need to upgrade to the HD pinion gears. Personally, I'd go ahead and upgrade the driveshafts also to save the headache.

That doesn't sound right. I have to buy parts to fix their design issues? As far as I can tell this issue has been known for some time. Plenty of time for them to make corrections for their products so the current crop of new trucks have the fix included.

I have heard that later RTR's, possibly kits come with HD shafts and pinions, but Rich would be the one too know for sure. As it's the weekend, I guess he might post something next week.

Bought the rtr a couple of months ago and have had no issues so far...bought the driveshaft and pinion upgrades because it's nice to have the extra parts for when something does give. Just went to lipo and having fun with 3s so will update if anything breaks.

Looks like the gears and axles are very popular, AMain and RPP are sold out. Looks like the incident hasn't hurt the sales.

Ok, I just bought one of these, RTR versions from RPP. The components in the RTR package are a good deal for the money. Can't wait to get it and put it on the trail.

Bought my kit about 3 weeks ago was one of the original ones I'm guessing, no HD gears or shafts even come with the axle servo mount. After seeing all the posts of destroyed pinion gears I'm hesitant to even run it before upgrading them.

I've been waiting to pick one up as well, would hate to buy a new kit/rtr and not get updated parts.

This truck is a very good value for the money. A lot of parts that are upgrades on the scx10 are included with this truck.

I purchased my kit from RPP about one month ago and it did NOT come with HD shafts or pinions. So far I have not broken anything however I will be ordering the HD pinions and MIP shafts when they are back in stock. Still it's a great rig.

The first post in this thread has photos that show the differences. The HD shafts are are easy to spot, but you would have to remove the diff cover to see the pinion.

Since we are always trying to improve our products, we are making a running change to include the revised pinion gears and driveshafts. Unfortunately there is no way to identify from the box if this is the case. We had our vendor make the changes and as new stock arrives, they will have this change. Owners from the EU got them earlier since they production was built "at the right time", thus the reason some owners from overseas have had them.

Thanks for the info Rich. I ordered mine from RPP. I think that their sales volume is probably high enough that my order will be fresh and hasn't been sitting on a shelf for a while.

a buddy bought a new RTR last week from the LHS and it had the HD shafts on it, by reading this I'm guessing he also got the hd pinion? Mine still has the weak ones in it, it's a brushed C1 rig so I guess they'll be ok for a while.
