'72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build Started a build over on the 1.9 section, but wanted to share my morphed K5 into K10 4x4 styrene build. Don't want to bore everyone with the whole thread, but finally got a chance to mock it up on the chassis today. Rough mock up, just sitting on the chassis so far. Lots of work to do, couple panels, front grill and a ton of body work before paint. Just finished the wheel wells... http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps5z47qezc.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pstl2odl7j.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psd5vpy5yv.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps5q2avoul.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psoyzc7dvg.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psg5o27tvn.jpg |

Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build You need to mass produce this. We need a decent hard bidy that aint a Jeep or Land Rover |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build Very nice work glad to see something different. |

Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build A little update... Well tackled that grill, started with pre-cut strips, vice and slits so I could hopefully try to "mesh" it together. Used a foil kit for the "chrome". Buttoned up the tailgate closeout cover. Also started the priming process. The strips...... http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psesiepc8z.jpg The mesh..... http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps8blnz3ii.jpg The grill..... http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pstz8cnncl.jpg Misc. http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psqpjfhg1t.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psv278unqz.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psc076j0pw.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pshermxhfq.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build All i have to say is i want one! Great job bud cant wait to see the finished product! |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build Had to get creative as the ESC was sitting to high, its a Hobbywing 1060, when I inverted it it wound up fitting perfectly. also had to relocate the rear shocks so I added a set of 78mm GMade units. Got it in blue today, will have a silver band around the midsection. http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psjj9zbsj0.jpg Feel'n blue! http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pswypmp9y7.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psn44xukq1.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psxqygvgei.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build WOW! Just WOW! Great work! The color is awesome too! I cant wait to see how this turns out! |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build Got some silver on it, wet sand and clear coat. Clear really made the blue pop! http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psnlkmcbfw.jpg Before clear coat.... http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psoirxc71e.jpg With clear..... http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psmvxm1dro.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psk6ownp9n.jpg Couple shots of the chassis, been a little tough finding room, need to build a box for the electronics. http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps44jgssk4.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psrskyofjw.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build I Just set it on the chassis to see how it fits, lots of detail work to go, moldings paint the glass gaskets, glass, interior...... lots! Break time. http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psppvitget.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pseeyk7grp.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psp3awc6yo.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pslhm9pl9f.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build It's too pretty to take it off-road |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build Very, very, VERY nice |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build I agree, wayyyy to pretty to take off road! lol but either way that paint looks amazing on that body, I wish I had the patience to work with styrene like that. |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps44jgssk4.jpg Why the panhard bar in the rear? Needed due to the shorter shocks? |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build it was an early attempt to reduce the torque twist issue with these. Contrary to the engineering beliefs and the chassis guru's - this did limit somewhat the amount I had tried to tame. Wasn't the absolute remedy but helped. |
Re: '72 Chevy K10 4x4 PU - Styrene Build Tackled the moldings, and attached the grill. Learned a few more things with this build, and gained more tricks from the likes of Silverado1 as well! On to bumpers, trim, glass etc. http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pspc6hkhdp.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pstzilpgas.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...psjuwtcp0i.jpg http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...pscjgwpxrn.jpg |
