Ascender Jeep Cherokee Rear Tailgate Rack
 

Bent up some aluminum and riveted the pieces together to make this little tailgate rack. The bikes are 1:18 scale, so they don't match the 1:1 pic, but I've got a 1:12 scale bike in the mail. It will definitely limit my departure angle in the rear, but I just wanted to see how it would turn out. I will post up another pic when I have the new bike mounted on it.

That is cool, they look like Trail 70's in that scale against the Jeep.

Haha, didn't think about the trail 70's! "thumbsup" If all else fails, I can make another one like it and use them as trailer ramps lol

Well got the 1:12 scale bike in today, I think it looks a lot better in this size. The rack doesn't mess with the rigs crawling ability as bad as I thought it would, might just have to leave it on there! "thumbsup"

I will get you some better pics of the rack if you plan on building one, low cost for materials and a vise, hammer, and block of wood to bend everything up. Also a rivet gun if you want to go that route. Could just use screws and nuts, but rivets look cleaner. Also, the wire mesh for the bottom came from a $2 aluminum pizza oven sheet.

Here are some close up's shots of the tailgate rack. I got lazy towards the end of making it and just hot glued the mesh on. You could rivet it on I guess or use screws. I also thought about making support bars from the end of the rack to the body, but the mount to the body is pretty solid. Hope these help, would be cool to see some different renditions of this idea!
