Ascender With Overdrive Mod

Got this conversion from Maxbonv from Italy. An on the fly overdrive conversion kit. It works flawlessly and a very easy to do mod. Only special tool you need is a Dremel. max.bonv@libero.it

Wow, that's fawking hawt! Nicely overdriven front end, it can shift one to one or OD front and standard driven rear axle correct?

Re: What's going on here?

Your right Nate..I just have to get the shift servo adjusted then I should be able to test it out on some rocks. It basically runs in second gear and first gear underdrives the rear.

What's the price on the conversion

rc2000 11-28-2015 01:04 PM

Re: Ascender With Overdrive Mod

It was around $60 with the conversion rate. I thought it was a little pricey but with my SCX I bought lockers and Axial over under gears and it was a whole lot more than this upgrade. The major thing is it can be changed on the fly.

Do you have a link to where the item can be purchased?

Also, how does it work? Is it like a second gear or is it just overdriving the front axle?

Email is in the first post.

It's a Twin Hammers 2spd transmission. Normal mode is second gears both axles. In the overdrive mode the front axle remains in second gear and the rear axle is now in first gear.

I should get a good chance this weekend to get more wheel time. I'll post some more run videos. I got my shift servo tuned in so I'm ready to go.

With the Overdrive modify, you have a big change of Steering and grip "thumbsup"

Good test

How far off is the gear ratio between low and high?

A lot....4.05 versus 2.27. I utilize it as a dig function. Slow speed tight turns or steep break overs. Before the mod I ran 3s. Now I run it on 2s and still have plenty of wheel speed. I run a brushed 35T HH motor. On a trail run I operate with the overdrive function off.

See third pick for Dremel question. See where the pin is seated into the gear. Its a really quick process but you want it to fit nice and tight. Instructions are included.

Re: Ascender With Overdrive Mod

So I guess I'm not totally understanding this. You need the 2 speed transmission correct? And with this mod it allows you to have low gear for both axles. Then high gear for front only? No more high gear for front AND rear axles? I've got a two speed transmission I'm putting in my truck for more wheel speed and fun. If this allows basically 3 settings as in, low for both axles, high for both axles, and high I the front only I'd be interested. Thanks
Ben
