| My new Ascender broke, need help!
Been playing with my new Ascender today (awesome fun), but by my fourth pack I had noticed some strange behaviour. I will just link the video, the video description will tell you more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6dR...ature=youtu.be And to anyone who helps, thanks a million |

Nothing abnormal there, it's all wheel drive with locked diffs. Check that your front CVDs are in phase and put one small drop of oil on each cvd and work it in, wipe off any excess oil. I do this every so often when they look dry of lube. This will help, but there may still be slight pulsing especially with no weight on the wheels and when steering. There are several threads in Ascender section about this, I explained and posted pics in my Ascender thread too. |

Normal. Just like Nate said, fully locked 4wd and high steering angle. Just the nature of the beast. Ben |

Ahh, new development, took it out for a spin this morning and before I had even left the house there was no power to the front end?

Mine does the same , try compressing you're shocks and you will see that its alot less , so when you drive it and add the weight from chassis and body etc there's no problem Verstuurd vanaf mijn HUAWEI MT7-L09 met Tapatalk |

I'll concede that the first issue I raised was perhaps me just being overly timid of anything that seemed strange to me (just because I'm new I guess). But this new problem, is an actual problem. There's literally no power to the front wheels, and if I roll the front driveshaft a little it feels very loose compared to the rear shaft. It would appear that the front shaft is no longer linked to the motor in any way.

When you spin the shaft, does it spin the front wheels? Does your truck have the Non-HD pinions/drive shafts? All of the gears in the transmission are metal, and you would hear if any of them where to break as its quite loud.

Ah, this is embarrassing. Once again, just me freaking out over something small haha Sorry, I enjoyed it so much yesterday, the idea of something serious breaking just rustles me (big time). It was, after a quick double check, in fact, a grub screw in the driveshaft. Thank you so much for your help - I even got a chance to have a quick sunset puddle stomping session because of your suggestions. |

Yes, the driveshft screws are kinda oily from the factory so the little loctite on from the factory is not enough, mine loosened twice on me. Remove the grub screws one at a time, wipe them off with clean rag, apply blue loctite and re-tighten assuring that they are tightening down against the flats on the tranny output shaft.

This same thing happened to me yesterday except the front half of the rear shaft came completely off the transmission and dropped to the ground. I put it back together w/o Loctite so the kiddo could play with it out in the yard for her birthday. We are expecting heavy rains tomorrow, so no crawling, but will get to take out those grub screws and blue Loctite them all. Thanks for the tip Natedog.

I would suggest just using the smallest amount of blue loctite you can. I have had 3 different drive shaft grub screws strip out the head due to using too much loctite. Real pain. I now use loctite 222 low strength when I do use it. I don't use it on drive shafts at all anymore. I do check them for tightness before each run. If I do end up trying it with 1.5 mm hex set screws again, it will be the 222, and very lightly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Sammy, Get a 1/16" driver, It fits much better in those 1.5mm set screws, It helps keep them from stripping.

EDIT: I have an old Thorp from buggy racing days and it's still in near pristine shape after much use. Last edited by Natedog; 02-23-2016 at 06:38 PM.

Yeah Nate, Its such a tight fit you almost have to force the driver in sometimes. I havent stripped a 1.5mm screw in months thanks to my 1/16".. I have a very high quality 1.5 mm driver that I use when the 1/16" is too big, Which is almost never.. |

Thanks you guys. I will get one. I have one such problem 1.5 in the driveline of my Wraith right now. I have numerous 1.5 drivers. The best I have right now is from Locked Up RC. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
