They've got all metal gears in there. You'd have to be pretty talented to break one of those before the plastic driveshafts or cvd's first. If you're positive it's coming from the tranny I'd be looking at the bearings. Mine that i just lost made a clicking noise but was the input bearing.

Back to your pictures, broken hot top piles are one of my favorite because traction is never an issue. As long as the truck can physically get to the next level, it will climb it! But very hard on bodies when you tumble and very hard on driveline if you get in a bind and have a heavy throttle finger.

This and/or something stuck in the plastic spur gear or bad gear mesh at pinion to spur gear.

The input bearings in the transmission are a weak spot. Mine clicked/crunched till it took out gears!

Don't kick yourself too much, lol. Just about all of us learned the hard way early on about the importance of looking at OD whenever choosing new shoes for a rig. You picked a great one to start with, and glad to see you're having so much fun with it.

Proline used to make FJ body, but rc4wd makes hardbody FJ that is sweet! Love those black spoke steelies and Mud Slingers. Nice to set it getting dirty too, any trail pics?
