Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks Just bought two pairs, they should be with me in a few days. Here's the actual product for anyone interested: Boom Racing Boomerang Thought I would give them a try as the stock shocks are just as bumpy as everyone says they are. I'll let you know how to they turn out, as I couldn't find a whole heap of info on them. |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks Good luck, I've not seen anything good from BoomRacing...hope it turn out ok. EDIT: Those are internal spring shocks and therefor a pita to tune springs on because you have to open the shock up everytime you change springs. Also have to find right diameter and length springs to fit inside the shock. The OD of the shocks tend to be larger too, which can cause them to get in the way of steering, suspension and frame bits. Give them a try I guess at least they are inexpensive. You can just drill the stock shock pistons (there are two holes per piston) use #55 (0.052" or 1.3208mm) drill bit and then refill with 30wt shock oil, works great! EDIT: Hope I didn't sound too harsh, just trying to help...is it too late to cancel your order? :) |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks I'm really interested in these shocks. Have you had a chance to try them out yet? Sent from my SM-G870W using Tapatalk |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks I've got a set and they are in my parts box. Just couldn't get them to operate smoothly. Maybe you will have better luck or maybe they have improved on the tolerances. |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks I've been running the 110mm booms for a year now. No issues other than some wear on the shock shaft coatings. I run mine in droop. Comes with 3 different spring rates for tuning and getting them right for your setup. Add a lil bit of grease to the o-ring before you close them up. |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks Sorry to anyone who was interested, but straight after ordering them I heard some serious negative stuff and promptly cancelled the order. I'm going to try and drill out the stock shocks like Natedog did, if that doesn't work out for me I'll just get the Vat Alum ones *wallet screams in the background*. |

Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks I also bought two sets of those... Bad decision, impossible to tune them all the same, soft spring too soft, hard spring too hard... Medium with oil from 50cst to 300cst and nothing... they sag a lot... Well, back to stock now (except the front ones leaked...) |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks Just found this thread, I have set on order. Planing on running 35 weight and hard springs, should be in this week. ~Fett |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks I think the biggest problem is that they compress less than stock shocks, so you end up with less shock travel - is you set them in sprung mode. In droop, they compress all the way down, but droop is droop... If you can live with the limited piston travel, you may be able to tune them I guess... For me the best setup was with medium springs and no oil (or maybe a little 50sct). |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks Run 110mm on front of my yeti. Work great! |
Re: Boom Racing Boomerang 110mm Shocks After some testing, settled with 45 weight Losi oil and heavy springs for the Ascender ~Fett |
