Default Servo Suggestions

I'm looking for a new servo for my Ascender. It's an RTR and I'm hoping to put something in stronger then whats in there. Would prefer waterproof. What do you guys suggest?

Is it possible I would see an upgrade in the current Spektrum servo just by adding a BEC? I think it maxes out at 133 oz of torque.

I personally wouldn't waste my time with the stock spektrum servo, but I would however invest in a BEC. As far as servos go, I have had good luck with this one, and it doesn't break the bank either.
Savox SW-0231MG Waterproof High Torque STD Metal Gear Digital Servo

I have also used this servo with good results as well, 277oz/in at 6v. This servo would work well in your ascender if you can afford it.

Good luck with your search!

I just ordered the 1210 for the TF2 kit I'm building. Maybe I should throw that in my Ascender and order the 0231 for my TF2.

Just installed a 1210 savox and BEC in my bronco ascender. Strong Servo. Super snappy. The stocker was so saggy. This 1210 really snaps.

That's exactly how I feel about the stock servo. It's just blah. I wonder if the Savox 0231 will be enough. Don't have a lot of extra funds as I just bought everything for my Trailfinder kit

Either of these are better than the RTR servo, with the Spektrum better than the Savox by 50% torque, and little more speed. Run what you can afford and have fun is the key.

You can always add an AvidRC $1 ball bearing (6x10x2.5mm open, part # MR106) to the stock RTR servo output shaft, cheap, easy and will extend stock servo life by months.
Post #277, you can see the bag of bearings next to the brass output shaft bushing that I removed from the servo and replaced with a bearing.

I have a 5955 (same as current 7955) and it works very well. Feeding mine from a BEC as well just for fun.

Anyone got the Spectrum S6030? I'm curious about performance and what the tooth count is for the horn. I can't seem to find a review.

I am running 7955s in two different trucks, I have been beating on one for 6 or 7 months with no problems. The other is in a Class 1 I just finished, only a few runs on it but I really like these servos.

Great 1.9 servo! I like mine.

So far so good. I am waiting in slightly warmer weather, only 11 degrees here today and my replacement cv shaft to get back going. It's probably overkill for shifting duties but it was a close reach for now...
