... About 6 mo ago. Been having fun running it stock. Only things ive done were added some beadlocks, and a dummy v8 thru the hood. Running a rc4wd 45 turn, trx xl5, and an lhs500bbmg servo. Also a traxxas am radio I had lying around.

So... This truck has been great stock, but now I want to start upgrading. What should I do first? My shocks kinda suck, was thinking of getting a set. Any suggestions?

Looks like fun, you need some zoomie pipes sticking out too! Read some of the build threads here, stock shocks can drill pistons, lower ride height etc. If you want new shocks the Vaterra aluminum one are very nice! What mods did you have in mind? And welcome to RCC and congrats on your Ascender! |

I agree with Nate, the vaterra aluminum shocks are a real nice choice for the truck. I would consider adding some good aluminum diff covers, they hold also are what holds the diff bearings in place and they will add some rigidity to the axle housing and help keep the ring and pinion mesh right on the money. Maybe also consider some metal sliders like the SSD ones. The stock ones get hung up on stuff.

Checking out the gcm relocation kit. The shocks that gcm offers are pretty sweet, I would like to get a set for the front that would match. I see that many here like shocks shorter that stock. What length front shocks would be best to go along with the relocation kit out back?

Thanks HDMM, to mention aluminum diff covers, SSD is the shiz. Metal sliders are great addition, GCM forward relocation kit is sweet. Any shocks can be internally limited to get travel you want. |

Cool. Ill I'll check the sliders out and front motor kit too. Right now I have 2 shocks, hat are leaking and worn out. Do you know the length of the gcm rear shocks? Wondering if my traxxas big bores would work?

The SSD sliders are defintely one of the best upgrades right out of the box. They slide over everything and work great to pivot around rocks as well.

Sweet. That helps a lot. This truck needs to get lower. Im about as low as I can go on body with out cutting it.

II run a lot on hills with loose dirt. I have a 45 turn rc4wd motor. I also have an mmp sitting here doing nothin. Could I run 3s with that motor? Would my low speed throttle control suffer? What I mean is, will I not need the 2spd if I run 3s?

Yes, you could run that motor on 3S, low speed control will suffer unless you use smaller pinion gear on motor. Do both. |

Found my driver And put in a dash. Top of dash is from a 1/8 scale buggy, with a bunch of styrene shoegoo`d to make firewall. Steering wheel was the plastic inner ring of a roll of pinstripe, with the pinstripe wrapped around it to make the grip Last edited by rag6; 04-20-2016 at 11:38 PM. |
