Thanks Nate, these are one set of tires and wheels I will be trying out. The slotted tubing is something I have used on several of my builds.

Yesterday I worked on the sheet metal for the bottom of the sliders, and a mount for the sway bar. I used 1/4" and 3/16 tubing for that. I'm still working on keeping the weight down.

Bumpers look good. That fairlead would lead me to believe there is a servo winch in the plans??

Thanks Poprivet, yes I built 2 Hitec servo winches last month. I used some alum rod to make some drums and mounted them on the inside of the servos. Using HeyOK 3 position controllers.

Looking great! How did you mount the bumpers? Are they brazed directly to the frame?

Looks like he cut peices of flat steel and soldered them onto the bumpers and then those bolt on to the Ascender frame.

On the front I bent a piece of flat stock on both ends to match the outside measurements of the frame, and then drilled to match the mounting holes on the frame. On the rear I drilled holes for threading 2/56 ss screws into the the rear mount. I will get some pics up tonight with some progress. Thanks for asking!
Thanks for the help Nate.

Ok, Time for an update. Pottymouth, Here are the photos of how I mounted my front and rear bumpers. If I would have soldered directly to the frame I would not have been able to open up the frame rails to get the skid in.

Next, I attatched the mount for my swaybar. I brazed 1/4" tubing pieces to the frame rails, and then measured and cut a length of 3/16" tubing and slid it into the 1/4". I still wanted to be able to spread the frame rails so I only brazed the 3/16 to the1/4 on one frame rail.

Light bar guard and Light Bar.

I built a box for the rear to hall my scale gear.

A couple photos of the boat side rock sliders.

A few servo winches I put together.

Three D grill, headlights and tail/brake lights.

And lastly, I tried the water slide decal paper trick in designing my Bull Dog roof panel. I think it came out pretty good for my first time.

All for now, thanks for looking.
Ernie,

Looking awesome Ernie.
Is that the onetomanyrcs light bar? If so, how's the quality? I've had one in my shopping cart for weeks.

Thanks Poprivet!
It isn't bad, it's not a vanquish, as far as fit and finish. Having said that, it is as bright as they claim, has a nice alum casing, and I bought the light bar, headlights, rock light and tail light/brake for what I would have paid for a 5" Vanquish light bar. I would buy from them again. Go for it! I bought mine from their Ebay site.

Just a little update on my ascender.

Broke it down and bead blasted to get it ready for paint.

Silver or Black?? the body is going to be metallic lime green, silver, and black.

This will the last update a week or two, I have a little medical issue I need to get fixed. I'm not posting this info for some ones sympathy, but as a concern for the number of men who don't keep track of their PSA count. And if you don't know what a PSA count is I'm really talking to you!!! One in Six men get prostate cancer and some are not even aware of it. I was one of the ones who caught it in time and had to have it removed. If not caught in time you will more likely die from it.
Age can be a factor, but you're never to young to at least get your doctor to test you!!!! Please!!!
Ernie,

Hey Avengernut, Welcome to the ascender clan. I still have a few ideas coming. I've been known to step out of the box a little so stay tuned.
