Looks great, axle tubes and brake weights with your steering and links works great! Koi pond pic please, we have couple large pots with water lily and Comet red and white fish, very relaxing to watch. Texted you. |

Just read through this and the majority of your bronco threads, first off hats off to your skills and patience! The steering you've referred to, is that the combination of axial parts (shafts) with vaterra (knuckle chub) and such? I tried to follow through how you did it in the bronco thread but got a little lost. |

Seems simple enough, that's slick they're all readily available stock parts too. I'm assuming I'll need to change the tie rod ends? Since they go into the knuckles instead of on top like stock. All of it just goes together too, no added machining or drilling? That's one hell of an awesome setup!! |

Yes you will need a little longer tie rod with a slight bend in it to clear the pumpkin at full lock. I also use a offset link end to push the tie rod out a little to clear the panhard bar mount. If you need a pic I can snap one for you. The other thing is you will need to shave the tangs on the unis to fit into the ascender spool. You want to do this a little at a time so you don't take off to much!! Ernie

Right on man, looking at parts now, which set of universals? I'm seeing a few different options. Shave down, as in shorten, or shave the inlet down to fit. |

On the axial unis the tang has two flat sides and two rounded sides. You want to shave down the two rounded sides about 2/3 of the way, very very slowly! The length is fine. Ernie

Ok, it's time for a little update. But first, what is it??? My brain is going a mile a minute trying to figure out a slider design, and how I want to mount them. I started with some measurements on one of my layout matt. Width of the frame, width of the body and the length I want them to be. Next is how and where I want to mount them on the frame. I'm not going to use the axle mount for my battery so this is what I came up with. The mounting plate is some stainless bar that was in my building box. The slider bars and uprights are 3/16" SS rod, the rest is 3/16" tube. I drilled a 3/16 hole in the front of the mounting bars so that the tube will insert into to make a stronger joint. All in closed and I added to parallel tubes to help with sliding over the rocks. Next I put the slider in the vise and bent them at the first parallel tube. I added the outside riser next. Tomorrow they will get cleaned up and fitted to the K10. Thanks for looking. Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 09-04-2016 at 08:07 PM. |

| Re: Codyboy Design: 1972 Chevrolet K10 Pickup Ascender Good job Jon, I heard we have a lot of Zombies in Oregon. A little more weight down low that should help with COG and getting past some rocks! Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 09-04-2016 at 08:16 PM. |

Fantastic fabrication as usual! Try angle the second set up right at the frame. Edit: and mount the tubes up higher on the flat plates. Last edited by Natedog; 09-05-2016 at 08:58 PM. |

Got my Codyboy designs beef tube axles today! Thanks mate, can't wait to get them installed and take it out for a test! I see in one of your pics you have made yourself some rear upper link risers out of old battery tray pivots, have you tested them out yet? |

They work great for risers, and it does make a difference with the TT, and the best thing of all is they are free!!! Ernie

Like I said earlier, I wasn't happy with design and fitment of My first try at sliders for the K10. Having said that, I really like the new design! I wanted simple and easy, so since they will be attached in just two places on the mounting bar I wanted a strong joint. Here is what I came up with. Doesn't look like much yet! So these are my gull wing sliders. They tuck up in there nicely. Kind of plain but I think they should work pretty good! Thanks for looking. Ernie, |

I guess it's about time for a update before we hit the road. With all the info from you guys this last week on a sway bar I thought I would give it a shot. Next, I cleaned up the SS Gullwing sliders. I decided not to paint them, kind of like the brushed steel look. I soldered tabs on the driver side slider and mounted the stock battery tray on it to off set the weight of the motor and tranny. Next I put together a new front bumper, to help with my approach. I made a tray mount so later I can mount my servo winch. Lastly I mounted up the stock tire with closed cell foams on a set of Locked UP easy mount wheels. I kind of like the look of the wheels on the truck! I'm really looking forward to meeting some of you guys on our trip to the East Coast and back!!!! Last edited by CODYBOY; 09-13-2016 at 10:10 PM. |

Nice gullwing sliders, swaybar and bumper, they should work very well! New sliders look much cleaner. What size wire did you use for swaybar, got a side picture with new wheels too? Edit: Keep in touch during your trip and let me know when you're close. I assume you'll be checking RCC. Hmm last side picture appeared now wth? Looks great.
