Ran some lights tonight and was able to test them. For less than $10 these light kits are pretty cool. Blinkers when you turn reverse lights, high beams when your driving forward. All on...and multiple siezure modes. I'm trying to figure out the best place to mount the controller and also the best way to keep it dry...I have a plastic case a servo came in but it's a little big...haven't decided on that yet...so anyway here's how it's looking now. It's hard to tell in the pics but the turn signals are orange and even look orange through the red lenses out back. Put my back-up lights in the bumper...see how long those last lol... Tried to take a couple pics with the lights off...not great but you get the idea Comming along nicely, just need to route all the cables and it should be done...the lights not the truck.... Cheers! Tried to organize the rats nest that this light kit has created. Becoming a bit of a nightmare under the lid...ohh well. Went ahead and used a plastic box I had to house the controller and glued it to the inside of the body. Unfortunatly with this set up its a bit of a chore to completely remove the body....ts ok for battery changes but I may need to use some servo extensions and a quick connector for the light that's on the bumper so I can easily remove the lid to work on things. Here is what I came up with. Once I get my wiring squared away for good I'll probably seal the whole box and fill the hole the wires are going through with E6000. It should be fairly water resistant if I do that. Christmas comming soon, have to see what Santa brings. I've got a couple gift cards sitting on my bench that really want to be spent....but I can't remember what I told my wife I wanted lol!!! So I'll wait till after Christmas so I don't end up with duplicate parts. Cheers!! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Lights and box look good, keep the box low as you can and I'd cut and crimp splice in servo connector plugs for the lights like you were thinking.

I finally got around to making some inner fenders. I've been feeling like a crazy person checking out every plastic container that comes through this house for the last month. I finally found one that is juuuuusssttt right. I liked the squared bottom and it's a rectangle, I cut one container to make short fenders for the back and the other one long ways for the front to make room for the front tires and the steering radius. I did realize that with this truck the front light buckets stick back a little ways so I had to do a little modification there. I think it should look ok painted, if not I can cut that section out, don't really need a inner fender in front of the front tire....but we'll see. Front with the body on Rear with the body on Whole truck topless!! Front light bucket mod Rear Now they just need paint...I will probably just go with flat black, or might try some spray-on bed liner stuff. I'll see how much that stuff is....will it stick to plastic?? Cheers!! |

Chris, your becoming a master at repurposing! Good job young man. Ernie Bead liner should work fine, I use under coat spray. It seams to be a even little more flexible. Last edited by CODYBOY; 12-18-2016 at 08:40 PM. |

Maybe we should have a contest. Who can fabricate the best RC body out of repurposed material? No styrene allowed. | |

Ordered up the swaybar kit from hot racing, finally got a chance to see how it would work tonight. You get 2 of these in a kit Turns out it fits awsome! The kit actually comes with 2 identical sets of sway bars so you can do 2 rigs which is nice. The only thing I had to do to install it was come up with a support for the Torsion bar, I used some old rod ends and a couple screws with washers through the body post holes. Next I flipped around the bolts holding on the bottom sway bar and shock ( this is a tight fit from the back side) and used the fancy little nuts that came with the kit instead of the nylon nut. It will be interesting to see how these cup style rod ends work and last, my guess is not long but that's easy enough to change out later on. And here is how it looks all put in (doing it this way actually flips the arms around so the text is on the inside of the truck which I also liked. Not sure if I like them on thoutside of the snocks, but they don't hit anything while flexing so I'll leave them for now, I could always get longer bolts and out board the shocks and run the links to the inside...but I used what I had for now. Works great zero torque twist now. My question to you guys with sway bars is how much travel seems to work best, I feel like this is too stiff right now, and there is 3 feet of snow on the ground now so I can't really test. This pic shows how much the axel will twist if a front tire is lifted...as you can see not much. Should I grind down the sway bar a bit more? Or is that about normal?? Happy new year! Cheers!! I agree that it looks too stiff, just keep grinding a flat spot on it until you thinks it's right. I use a much smaller diameter Spring wire for my bar, and on my K10 Chevy because the bar is short, I have ground a big flat spot in it for most of the length of the bar. Set your shocks and springs as soft as you want now, then set the softness of the bar, my truck will keep all 4 wheels on the ground with 1 wheel up on the RTR radio base. Maybe a couple of pics in other threads. |

Started working on some new rear upper link plates. I'm realizing a drill press would really help with drilling accurate holes in my aluminum plate...good thing these will be covered up by the plastic plate the sliders bolt to because I had to widen a couple holes. I'm blaming the drill not my measuring ;) Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Look what I finished!! They are a little rough but will do the job. Finally threw an old finnish blade on the table saw and cut them out with that, drilling was done by hand. I did have to trim the dust cover on the transmission for the right side to fit. I see lots of people without any spur/pinion cover so a little hole shouldn't be too big of a deal. I raised them about 1cm straight up from the stock position, that seemed to be where everyone else is mounting their RUL as far as I can tell from pics. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

NEW SHOES!!! I've been spending too much time online lately...and packages keep showing up at my house...oops... SSD D Hole wheels Tested things out in the driveway...for a couple minutes... it's 5 outside (that's F not C, for those of you who live in countries that like things to be logical :p) Swaybar addition has completely removed the torque twist, and I'm sure moving the RUL helped a bit too...but hard to say how much since I already have the swaybar installed, when it gets warmer I may unhook it to see what moving the links did. I'm happy with the wheel choice I was thinking about going with all black, but they would have been on back order and I'm inpatient. I think the little bit of silver looks pretty good with the silver trim on the body. They are steel so I could always paint them if I get tired of the silver. I'm going to have so many changes on both rigs by the time I can see dirt I won't know what did what!! Ohh well it's keeping me busy in the cold months. Cheers. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Started in on my radio today, it's been on my to-do list for a while. Soldered in the port which will allow me to flash the new firmware. I was a little intimidated by this as I have VERY little experience soldering....and I have a $3 soldering iron....but surprisingly it went well and was easier than expected. Next will be to get the new firmware installed. Overkill rc has excellent guides to all this if your wondering how to go about all this with the flysky radios. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
