Is that a Tamiya body? Curious how it's going to fit. | |

Yes it is, width seems like it's pretty good, I think I will probably go with a narrower tire lime the rc4wd mud plugger or mud thrasher. It is short though (even on the bronco WB) which is fine I was pretty sure the bed was comming off anyway...so this made that decision for me. I can take a few pics tonight after work Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

| Re: EBay bronco Yup...here are some pics. It's short but I think the width is not bad. If you look at 1:1 mogs aftermarket wheels stick out quite a bit. This is next to the bronco, so very short WB already. One thought I've had is to cut the body in half and put a spare tire between the body and bed along with a tool box, Jerry cans etc. Or I may go more racing syle truck...haven't decided. So Ernie....when you gonna start designing some portal gear boxes for the ascender axles Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Last edited by Chris81; 12-28-2016 at 05:59 PM. |

Trimmed the body last night, it's short, even on the bronco WB. I think my solution will be to cut it in half and build a spare tire mount in between the cab and the bed. Similar to this Down the road I may try my hand at a styrene camper rear end which this design will allow for. Also used a amazon gift card to order these which I think will go nicely with the mog body I hope they mount up ok, I've read a couple posts where people have had trouble with gmade wheels. Cheers!! Snuck downstairs and started trying to figure out how I'm going to set up the body. I think I have it mostly figured out now. I'm building a tray out of heavy plastic that the 2 body halves (yup, I cut it in half tonight ) will attach to. This will also give me something to mount my spare tire rack to (more on that in a sec.) I'm going to mount to body with velcro or something similar to avoid body holes. Where I've got it sitting I will def need to limit my shocks quite a lot, I'm going to try and keep it somewhat scale so no huge flex shots, sorry guys no sneaking peaks at my undercarriage!! I think I can cut down the stock bumper to look decent for now, I will need to figure out a rear bumper, and sliders and something to fill that space under the cab and bed. The body kit comes with some panels that have gas tanks moulded into them, I'll paint them and see how they look, but I think I may have to make something that looks better to go between the wheels/hides my trasmission/electronics. Here are a couple pics from the chop shop. Wire basket will make a sweet tire rack! It's the exact size as my tires!! Body mock-up Rough estimate of the body height from the front, body posts inside will not be used, just threw it on to hold the body I'm thinking a set of RC4WD mud plugger tires would look pretty sweet. Has anyone used them? If the performance is terrible I'm not sure I could do that I'm shooting for scale, but I still want to drive it!! |

Got some goodies in the mail today! Tires on the way, ordered a set of mud pluggers. Hopefully they preform ok, I think they will look perfect though! While waiting for parts I've been working on patching the bodies up from the surgery a couple nights ago. I'll get some pics of those soon. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Body has been stretched! Still a little tweeking to get everything level and a little reinforcing to do to keep things from sagging...but it's back to looking like a semi complete body. The stock tire is about a half inch taller then the mud pluggers which are on their way, once I get those I can start figuring out the mounting and body height. Cheers! New shoes arrived today!! Wasn't sure how the mud pluggers would be, couldn't find a lot on them regarding performance. Out of the box they seem pretty nice. Rubber is very sticky, the foams will need replacing, if you take them out the foam is the exact size of the tire...so they wont do much except absorb water, you can see they squat a bit on the truck just sitting there (they arnt even vented yet! They are much smaller than the stock wheels, I knew this but it's a big difference side by side! Threw a couple pics in for comparison. Really liked the way the gmade wheels went together, they came with a couple long bolts to get things started, but I didn't need them with these tires (I did with the TSLs). I still need to pull apart the shocks and limit them internally, will probably go somewhere between 80 and 90mm for this truck...not quite sure yet exactly how much I want to limit them. Any suggestions??? Will need bumpers or atleast a front bumper, probably a winch, maybe a rear winch? Interior? Its a unimog...so maybe portals in the future, but we will see i really like my codyboy front axle im waiting for him to design some portals!! AND Also need to paint obviously...but it's winter and it stinks the house up so I'll be waiting for a nice warm day to go do my spraying outside. Gotta keep the boss happy!!! Glad you got those tires mounted easily on those rims. I had to fight the stock tires onto a set of GMADE NR01 wheels.

Looking good, but might move the spare tire and mount inboard a bit so that it doesn't hang up on trail obstacles. I limited my shocks internally 9mm (3/8") on both my Ascenders, works great for me, but every truck and person is different. Tires and wheels are a good fit theme and size-wise.

Finally pulled apart the shocks, opened up the holes in the pistons a bit and internally limited the shocks by about 17mm. This brings the shocks length down to about 90mm eye to eye. I cut the stock external bumper on the shocks in half as well. While I was at it I drilled a hole in each spring retainer and ran a little piece of wire through that and around the bottom of the sing so I don't have to worry about loosing any more of them (I lost one the first time I had it out) Stock length vs the new 90mm Ohhh yeah and the new wheels (gmade SR03)I put on are heavy, 7+oz each with tires and foams...I'm wondering if it's too much and if I should replace the inner cast metal ring with plastic? I'll probably wait...but if I start breaking parts it might be required Slowly making progress....cheers! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Got some goodies in the mail!!! My favorite... Also got a bunch of spray paint, silver copper, black, dark blue and gun metal. I haven't decided on the final color, it's a toss up between the dk blue and gun metal. The copper is for the first coat and the inside coat for rust when it gets scratched. I'll be painting the outside of the body. I also may try my have at weathering... but haven't decided. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Been a bit since I've done much, I've been waiting for warm weather so I can paint...and that hasnt happend. Ive also been trying to figure out a front bumper. The mog body is pretty narrow and I've been having trouble finding any bumpers that are narrow...and look like they will go with the body. I finally decided to cut down the original bumper to see how that would look with the mog body, nothing to loose right!! I cut it down to 7 inches from 8 and trimmed the under side of the bumper like others have done. The ends will need to be sanded where i patched the openings. I think it actually will work quite well. I'll need to trim the bumper off the body now. But here is a pic for a rough look. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Once I trim the bumper off the body, the whole body will sit that much lower. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Been a busy summer and haven't been doing much with the RCs, but realized the family is all headed for vacation together in a couple weeks and I'd better have some things to do...so I figured I'd finish up the Mog so a couple people can play at once. It's been a while but I've made good progress this week. Got a few more little details to finish up but it's mostly done. I'm trying mounting the body with magnets, se how that goes. As for the paint, I did in side copper, a couple silver coats then the gun metal with the idea being that scratches will look like metal and rust...but time will tell. I will probably need to build some fuel tanks and some kind of skirting to hide some of the electronics. And maybe some rear fenders. But for now it's drivable and should be a fun change from the blazer Cheers! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Got a little more done, put a winch on the front controlled by a little $3 esc and a 1s 750mAh battery works pretty good for a cheep winch. If I want more power I could splice into my 2s power but I kinda like the separate battery. Also made a cover for the bed because the lexan fake bed looks dumb. I think this helps a bit...got a little dirt on the tires, def need stiffer foams, but for such a skinny tire the mud pluggers arnt tooo terrible and they fit the truck. This is more of a scale truck anyway vs my blazer which I've decided I'll keep more performance oriented. It's comming a long and really fun to drive! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Finished up the winch wiring and actually got out for a little test today. The mudplugger tires are surprisingly decent, they seem to grip rock quite well! Their weak spot is soft dirt and I'm sure mud...contrary to their name. There is def a down side to using magnets to hold on your lid....it pops off everytime you rub against something or roll over...may have to re-think this. The winch works great, I'm using my hacked flysky radio on the third chanel. I've set it so the 3rd channel trim button when pushed forward goes to +100 trim and when pulled back it goes to -100 trim which makes to $3 esc go full forward and full rev. Seems to work well with no creep. The winch itself on the 1s seems to have enough power with a little wheel speed to get it up and over ledges. The only down side is the winch does stick out another 5mm from the bumper...so it can get caught on things. I have also outboarded the rear shocks and the TT isn't too bad, seems like less of an issue with the short WB. I still need to make a new RUL plate like I did on blazer to finish things. Out boarding the shocks and the RUL took care of enough TT on my blazer that I probably won't run a sway bar. Things left to do... Steering servo- stock one is still on it... RUL plate A covering to hide to internals from the side Foams maybe...stock are really soft, I think for this rig a dual rate foam might be worth trying I'm sure I'll think of more... Some pics Cheers! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
