Spaceman "builds" an ascender After reading a lot about the ascender and remembering a. I'm lazy and b. How many pending projects I have, I bought myself an RTR Blazer.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...c5f4f6c290.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't have any shorty batteries yet so I angled a standard battery in the tray and it seems to work. It was way too high so I dropped the springs preloads all the way down and then lowered the body posts low enough that I had to trim the body around the bumper brackets and then trimmed the corners of the wheel wells. I took it out to the rock pile and it took lines that my HG and SCX10 couldn't make. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender You will have a lot of those(man did that truck just do that)moments ahead.have fun guy. |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender I bought a Castle BEC and Castle link a while back and finally decided to use it:) I'm a cheapskate so I want to be able to use the BEC in multiple vehicles so I soldered the power side to a male and female battery plug. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...7f10ab243a.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender And the servo side, I took a servo wye and cut the signal wire off the BEC side and cut the power wires off the RX side so I can plug it into other vehicles. I still have the stock servo and my rockpile is under 6" of snow so I can't tell if it's any better yet....I guess I need to buy a powerful servo soon... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender The Blazer did great up to about 4" of snow, but we got another couple inches and it was useless. I tried some MT tires and it did a little better, but I had to limit the steering cuz the tires were rubbing the shocks.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...83c0635343.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...13ddcec256.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...1c9fba9fba.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender My wonderful wife and kids got me interior parts from Dinky rc for Festivushttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...52824629df.jpg I got the tray trimmed and placed http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2fd57517ea.jpg And a pair of Dinky RC Cheap Seats for Fin and passenger... Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender I bought an interactive light kit a while back, head, tail, turn signals, brake lights, etc, but I'm not sure I will like it. Another poster said he installed a similar kit and it was annoying on the trail. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...02a5bcdab4.jpg The other option is this, I have a couple of these strings with 4 white and 4 red LED that are just on or off.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...dfcc51f7db.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender Here's the dash and sides trimmed and ready, I need to decide on lighting and then run the wires before install. I'm gonna try sticky Velcro and if that fails, I'll use E6000.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...7103a6e524.jpg I was thinking about putting the light controller under the dash and I can use this fuel cell for water protection.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0577985c64.jpg Dinky RC taillight with LEDs http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...59da39043c.jpg Empty taillight http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...07a70c7b44.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender I have the RTR body so I thought I might have to scrape the paint off for the tail lights, but they shine through running off a Castle BEC set at 7.2VDC, I probably won't run them off the BEC (it was easy for testing) so they may be not be as bright.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...361e654d89.jpg The top LED is red and and the bottom is white. The interactive kit comes with amber for turn signals so I need to test those as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender "thumbsup" on the Dinky parts. Matt makes some really neat stuff, and he puts a lot of time and thought into his products. I'm going to start begging him to make a full interior for the Bronco next time I see him  |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender Sweet interior, I like the non-interactive lights but either will spruce it up and get ready for night crawling. Use E6000 to glue the interior together and can tack the light wires in with it too. Don't use a ton of it and it can be carefully cut and peeled apart later if needed. :) |

Thanks for the advice, I used adhesive Velcro for the interior panels and I'll see how long it lasts. I also used adhesive Velcro for the seats and driver. I still need to paint the panels so I may glue after painting. I'm also waiting on 5mm LEDs with longer leads for the interactive controller. I'll see how I like it and probably just remove the flashing leads. The controller is designed to work with the ESC set on F/B/R so on F/R, the brake lights only come on in reverse so I'll run the rear bumper lights on that output even if I remove the flashers. Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender I found some red felt in the craft drawer....http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d279f49b14.jpg I used sticky Velcro for the seats and double sided scotch tape for the carpet.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...1be9abbb80.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...6216429078.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender The slow boat from China brought my shorty battery...http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...56a873b127.jpg Now I can run with the interior... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender Interior, driver and passenger coming along nicely, how's the new year treating their ride? :) |
Re: Spaceman "builds" an ascender Quote:
I've been working on my new TF2 and helping my kid with his TT02. I'm waiting on servo extensions and more LEDs to finish the lighting system. I also got some tiny pop cans and a tiny toolbox with tools from Michael's i need to glue in. Dinky was out of steering wheels so I ordered one from Banggood for an HG P402 so I need to make a steering column and I have an extra micro servo so I might try to make the steering wheel turn. Not to mention that I need to Sheetrock my basement.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
