Thanks Nate, gee your up late over there!

I googled '50's American cars' and reckon it's a Buick, so its not Doc Hudson.

Looks a lot like a 1951 Buick Super.

Here’s an idea I have been thinking about, cut the sway bar in half and fit a TRX4 locking diff center to it, with servo and cable. Run it from a spare channel and have a quick disconnect swaybar. We can’t let the TRX4 crowd have all the fun with all their do dads they can switch on and off!

Might be fun to be able to switch the rear bar on and off on the fly and see when and where it helps/ hinders.

I picture it working like this, flick the switch and unlock the bar, the diff center opens and disables the rear sway bar from flexing as each half is free to twist independently like axles in an unlocked diff. Flick the switch on and when the bars are aligned as you drive along, the diff locks and connects the two halves of the bar again, making it one piece again and working as a swaybar.

How does the TRX4 diff work? And how could I make it lock only when the bars are aligned every time?

In the picture, Cut bar in half at the X, fit locking/ unlocking TRX4 diff in between the bar, presto! Remote quick disconnect swaybar!

A more suited design for a quick disconnect would be like a dig setup with something like a splined MIP type drive line. Where you would shift the female section either to one side (disconnected) or engaged partially on both to function as a sway bar. Should be a fairly easy design.

Sounds good, found a YT vid that showed a trx4 diff pulled apart and how it works, it would be too big and bulky.
I will have to investigate how digs work and look into them, I have some old plastic ascender driveshafts I could use too.

Got the old brain thinking now....

Hey Dean, way to think outside the box!! I like it.
I have been working on some Losi axle upgrades for new guy on here, and he is in Sydney. I can't remember where you are in Australia but he sounds like a nice young man and I think he would like hearing from you!

Here is his user name. A.Frankish The axle I built is for a C2 scale truck so I know he's a scaler guy.

Thanks Ernie, I live about an hour and a half drive north of Sydney, who knows, I may come across him at a comp. I will keep my eyes peeled for any scalers with losi axles!

I like seeing your comp pics. Nice, scratched up rigs. No shelf queens here.

Looks like the windshield wiper steel strip swaybar setup you posted about before, nice! The TRX-4 diff could be made to do what you want, but you'd have to make or grind the gears inside so that they only have one position that can be engaged. As it is every position engages because the gear teeth are all the way around the spider gears inside the unit. Ring gear could be replaced with a simple and light weight plastic piece, great thinking! As was mentioned a dig unit maybe? TRX4 diff unit is probably cheaper, give it a shot.
