I am still hoping for a quick end to the fires and the drought for you all down under... Every day, multiple times I am reminded of just how bad it is. Thanks for sharing those haunting photographs and the information about the Wollemi Pines. Take care and be safe, my friend! |

I am amazed how big these fires have been. 10 million hectares of fire damage, and England has a land area of 13 million hectares of land area!! I found a map comparing the size to other countries. At least nature will recover even if it takes a few years. The lose of life and loss of animals is the bad part. Respect to all the firefighters and others involved in all this. |

It's so damn gut-wrenching, watching all of these animals in distress. I realize it's horrible for human residents as well, but I guess it's just that they seem so much better equipped to deal with both initially escaping as well as surviving the aftermath. Worst thing that's ever happened to me was going through a bad hurricane - but I was just visiting when it happened, and was able to get the hell outta there reasonably quickly afterwards! |

I agree it is devastating on what is happening to both to all fauna and flora we are up here on the sunshine coast QLD but the wife and i were Sydney people and part of the szuki club and went to VIC after some of there fires maybe 2010 or 2009 i forget exactly when to help with some of the people there with rebuilding fence lines and just trying to be could people . this time we have gone a couple of times to Cracknback Riverside Campground on Armidale-Kempsey Rd, Lower Creek NSW 2440 great amazing spot as a swimming hole and some the forests on the was in looked like disater note on there facebook page UPDATE...WE ARE CLOSED FROM TODAY until further notice.....due to the recent surge in floodwater we will be closing the campground until further notice for health and safety reasons. Drought conditions, fires, and hot weather have taken a toll on not only the campsites and surrounds but also the local wildlife including fish from the river. We are sure that the river will regenerate and recover but until then we need a rest. Its a giant kick in the guts after what has been a shocker of a holiday season....We will hope to reopen in the easter holidays, where touch wood we will have green paddocks and clear water!! from this to this https://www.facebook.com/cracknbackcampgrounds/ |

Actually has some time this evening to work on my boys Ascender, got us some SSD sliders for K5 Ascender but they sit about 5mm low and 13mm forward. Made up some new mounts and got them to sit pretty good against the 66 Chevy body. Stock mounts are a bit low and too far forward. New mounts make them sit just right |

Also fitted some SSD TRX4 front bumpers to the front and rear. Made up some simple steel mounts, looks good. Made the rear mount in the same sorta way too. |

Trail ready! SSD sliders and bumpers all round should save the body from getting beat up! It’s already got a couple of cracks starting... |

It's terrible that the fires are still burning in Australia, the extent of burnt forests/grasslands and dead injured animals and people, hopefully the fires are out soon and all recover quickly! Great job on the bumper mounts and slider adaptation mate! |

We have had some rain and milder temps at times, the fire fighters seem to be getting on top of things. Hopefully all over soon. Got out on the trails in the forest today with Coop and his cousin, leeches, eels in the creek, mossy rocks and logs, found a crashed Cessna wreckage, fun for the boys! |

Wow! Broke something on the Ascender today! Highly unusual. Letting kids drive it in the front yard, notice it was 3 wheel drive. Front diff busted! |

Hey Dean, wow never seen that before! I've still got the spare diff parts I bought with my first Ascender when it was just out with upgraded diffs and driveshafts. Happy Monday, hope y'all are well! |

Well I never thought that part would break as it looks really tough. I have a few of them spare, but my first ascender is still on the original lockers after 5 1/2 years.

I've never seen an Ascender diff break like that! Good job on that carnage. Some of the teeth look a little funky too. I consider my Ascender to be my most kid-proof rc. Its actually the rig I hand to noobs since I know it can take the abuse. |

It’s just plain worn out. You can see the step worn into the teeth. This is the original diff from when it was a V1 Blazer RTR with the small drive shafts and standard diff pinion gears before they upgraded them, many years of trouble free use and abuse!

Added a couple things to the pickup Ascender, home made number plate made out off lead so it will get beat up and bent, and some D shackles. The shackle plates were too wide to fit on the bumpers and had a 4 bolt pattern so I cut them down and drilled 2 holes. |
