Good point, but I’d just run them and see. IME aluminum may slightly darken, then white crusties form if and when it corrodes. That’s why clear anodized is nice. |

That's exactly what happened to my Axial Bomber kit links in the Greased Lightning cleaner bath... I just scrubbed them a bit with a Scotchbrite pad, now they're no longer gold, but aged-looking.

love how trail rashed the truck is. looks awesome and the raw wheels look great too. i was running my steel 1.55 internal beadlock cross rc wheels raw (tried clearcoat but not enough) and they started to rust. any other truck it would have been awesome, but trying to keep the "chrome-ish" look for my pop's tribute. in your case i think some corrosion would just "fit" on your rig! | |

Thanks for all the comments guys! I have been making an effort to do more trail drives lately, very enjoyable, I love getting out and exploring with my crawler. Here are some pics from the last couple of trail drives. |

Not massive distances, but some of it seriously steep, big elevation changes. |

Thanks Natedog, we said we would try our worst tyres on our last run, they are cheap eBay knock offs, and terrible! It made it a challenge that's for sure, put the vaterra swampers back on after a while.

Love this truck. Just has the look of if it could talk, the stories it could tell! Still wish we could keep track of miles or n these things like the 1:1 trucks. Bet yours is getting close to the 100,000 mile mark lol. Ben |

I got to put a few more miles on it today Itali83! Another great trail drive with the guys from Central Coast RC, we hiked up Kincumber Mountain on the Central Coast of New South Wales today. It was a 'No hands" challenge, good fun, winching and towing. |

Replaced the stock plastic steering hubs and spindles with alloy Boom Racing parts today, went with unweighted spindles, I have a few sets of tyres and wheels, some weighted some not. I like being able to switch between the different wieghted wheels for different events. The steering feels real solid now, looking forward to comp day on Sunday! |

The tyres, as of right now will not go everywhere that my old Scorpions will, I’m sure they will get better as they wear in, also I am not using to proper foams because I cannot get them locally, so I’m using rc4wd foams from my Iroks, they fit pretty good actually. The skinny factor stopped me from following a stock redcat gen7 once, his wide tyres could span the gaps between loose packed rocks were as the skinny’s would slip down the gaps between rocks and my truck would belly out and get stuck. Otherwise there great! |
