I had to cut it and stretch it, and cut up my old black body to make fill panels.

Turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself!

A couple of pics from yesterday’s 4 hour trail drive, I took my sons scaler rig and had a blast with it, kept up with the other 2 more comp style rigs with no problems.

Feeling a bit sad, after watching a lot of the Axialfest vids it would seem we have lost Rich to the Axial brand.....

Oh? Does it then follow that there are no immediate plans to develop any future products under the Vaterra brand name?

Looks like a great time Dean, thanks for the pictures! Well setup Ascenders go many places.

Don't feel sad, Rich is a busy man and still with us Ascender folks. We've spoken recently.

As far as I know the brand is continuing and they recently released the green and white Suburban RTR.

Hey All,
You haven't totally lost me to Axial however Axial is the brand that needs the most help moving forward with projects since the transition. Our focus has been to get the brand back to where it was prior to Hobbico owning them. That being said, I can't hint or give any details to Vaterra's future but rest assured we're still working on the Vaterra brand.

That’s great news for us Ascender fans, thanks Nat and thank you Rich for taking the time to post here in my thread!

It looks like the Horizon team is doing a good job with Axial, successful Axialfest, 6x6 release and rumours of more cool stuff to come.

It’s pretty damn cool that you can engage with us on the forum Rich!, regardless of which brand your discussing, I’m sure everyone appreciates that a lot.

Thanks Guys, The Vaterra Ascender is my baby but at the same time, I'm happy with the 6x6, Wraith 1.9 and the new rig we have coming, so far these projects have been fun and it's been very interesting working with the team that used to be my direct competitor i was going after.

I should also clarify that even with the Vaterra brand still be worked on, things can change. I'm not trying to set up any doom or possibility anytime soon that it's dead but i've been at Horizon long enough to know that a change in direction can happen at any time. I've seen it happen with previous brands. Though some may not like it, and it would suck if Vaterra went away, I truly feel that our leadership (for the most part, nobody is perfect) makes pretty good decisions and is also the reason that Horizon itself is a very healthy company (there's a reason why we now own the Axial, Arrma, Hobbico/Tower Hobbies business).

So, I'll always try to get around and engage with you guys...I've been on RCC for many years and i prefer this forum community better than the new style groups it's just finding the time to get by and see what's up.

Thanks again guys for the support,
Rich

Thanks Rich for the words. I still have my original Ascender (and expect a few others here also do), from almost 5 years ago. Even though I have 2 more and a few other trucks to play with, that first one still goes out pretty often.

My only concern could be spares and is there any time scale where they may now be produced.

Apologies to Yeti for invading his excellent thread.

IF (and that is currently a big IF) the Ascender was discontinued, Horizon usually will support a product with spares for at least 12 months or discontinued based on demand. If we're only moving a very small amount of a part a month, those will be discontinued....cost too much to warehouse something that doesn't move and we're always needing space for new product from not only our stuff but everything we distribute.

Hi everyone!
I have been so busy lately with stuff and things that RC time has been off the agenda. I have missed the last few local comps and trail drives, real bummer, so no pics or reports from me, plus I have only just renewed my subscription so I can post pics again now. As Ernie said in and Email to me ‘all work and no play.....

Right now , on my doorstep is the annual tuff truck challenge for full size trucks, a couple of the guys in the local RC crawler club compete every year with a cut down Nissan Navara buggy. But I’m too busy to go this year, and Cooper usually enters the RC comp they have there too. But we will miss it this year.

A while ago I received a package from Ernie aka CODYBOY!!!! Thank you so much mate. Natedog and yourself keep sending me things from time to time, and it is much appreciated.

So Ernie sent me a bunch of Twin Hammer goodies and some of his weighted Ascender axles for Coopers rig. Built them up and installed but yet to run it, still hoping for some free time....he also sent us a cool hat each, nice!

Here are a few pics, you can probably see the fatigue in my eyes, I need a break....

Here are a bunch of pics I stole from different sites, just to remind myself what I’m missing!
The guys I know run the bronze coloured machine, you can see it parked up with a stock white Nissan Navara for comparison.

For all you facebookers, tuff truck challenge Australia are steaming live all of Sunday afternoons action right now!

Totally wicked, man!

I'm in love with that OD green rig... now THAT'S what I wish the new Axial Capra looked like!

(pics are SAVED for later drooling)

I have owned 2 Nissan trucks in my life - the only trucks in my automotive history.

A black Nissan Hardbody regular cab 4cyl stick-shift 2WD, and then about 10 years later an emerald green Nissan Frontier Desert Runner V6 KingCab auto 2WD.

Both were really fun trucks.

Anyways, I'm sure we'll see some cool R/C crawlin' pics from ya soon!

Good hearing from you...

Was wondering what y'all were up to, thanks for the updates! Looking forward to your refreshed Ascender pics, nice Tough Truck comp pictures, liking the blue UTE that's towing the bronze Navarra! Hopefully you get some relaxation and crawl time soon, I've also been pretty busy lately.

Hi guys!
Long time no see!!!!

All good here, Ascenders still ascendering. Kinda dropped outa the local comp scene due to busy busy at work.

Got friends staying over for Xmas and new year, their daughter loving to bash the Ascenders with my boy in the yard. We are all surrounded by bad bushfires and intense hot hot summer days, 40 plus deg C. The country is gripped by severe drought to, things are bad mmmkay!

Is it the New Year yet down under?

Anyways, I've got my fingers crossed that the cool and rainy weather I read about today will soon take care of those tragic brush fires for you guys.

Best wishes, great to see you and Cooper online!

BTW - I actually gave my Ascender and its brand new, wider RC4WD bumper some fresh battle scars over the last weekend - drove with my crawlin' buddy Miatardo to Houston and drove at a man-made crawler park that was loads of fun, and really different from what I am used to. I really need to break out the new bodyshell and paint it up!

Like an idiot, I used my smartphone's nav feature to get us all the way there and it's battery died right before the last turnoff - so NO pics!

I don't know if or when I can go again, as his family went out of town without him for the holidays (he had to work, as I did) and we were really only able to do an all-day thing like that because of the circumstances...
