| Re: What did you do to/with your Ascender today I don't think there's a way to do that. I know you're not a book of faces guy. (Smart man!) It's similar to the polls that were posted here but by Rich this time. I'll grab a screen shot and show you what the options were. I'll even write in your vote in the comments and tag Rich in it if you want. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

[QUOTE=Natedog;5800170]Nicely done, what is the basis of your interior? It’s a dinkyrc interior, it fits really well, but a little thin, the styrene box will support the Velcro body mount and will be covered with deck plate decals. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna bob it as well... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So... can someone just post the pic of the nice rig that was also on BookFace? Man, sometimes I feel myself weakening on my anti-social-media stance... ...and the only reason I can come up with is this damn R/C habit. I've managed to interact with a couple of FB-only vendors in spite of not having an account, though... Shortly I am expecting the remaining bit of JEC linkage I haven't got... a drilled SS steering link! but as it ain't for my Ascender, I'll shut up now. (meow?) |

Started a refresh on my Ascender today. Gonna change things up this time and kinda step out of my box. It started life as a K5 Blazer, and has gone through many changes. The one thing that never changed though, was wheelbase. I think I am going to try WB1 this time. But don't think I will be going with the Bronco body. Have a couple different ideas I will try. As soon as I get to something interesting, I will be sure and grab some pics. We don't have any cats to photo bomb though. Kinda feeling left out. Our house is full of kids and dogs. Oh well. Just heard back from SSD, their titanium links will be restocked at RPP Hobbies and AMain Hobbies in a few weeks!

I also found the 90's to be too long on WB4, so I added about 2mm spacers to the uppers to correct pinion angle. With standard lengths the pinion pointed down too much, would drag on everything. Front is fine. I also added a mm or two to the stock steering link - too much toe-in. I might be a candidate for Ti linkage there. And I found if you screw the ball-links onto the shock piston shaft too hard it warps the eyelet and binds on the pivot balls - had to back a couple off and they were fine. There is definitely some fine-tuning to do on these rigs to get optimum performance. My third rig runs better and is quieter than all the others. Getting the knack of soldering too. Rears on the right, fronts on the left. The one-piece links are the SSD 90mm Ti links. Went together without incident. Sorry, I don't have a pic of the mods after assembly. I ended up cutting up one of my exta 12mm spacers. Last edited by Browneye; 02-14-2018 at 10:39 AM. | |

I also just saw that JEC Racing (drool...) is currently in process of making some Ascender steering links - they make custom links so you could always have a full set done. The Ascender steering links are really nifty - there's a vid on FB showing a short video of how they look. I'll be ordering the SSD Ti links, though - as my WB is remaining at the stock K10 length. I don't need to add more weight, not with SSD brass front & rear, aluminum beadlocks, a steel battery tray, and a full-size 3S battery. Trying to stop there with the Ascender, as I will have another vehicle built up soon (I hope!) that will be my heavy rig. Very, very heavy........ I think the cage, radio box, and fuel cell are the only plastic bits left! ...and that includes the body (gulp...) |

Dang the JEC Racing steering link looks SWEET! I actually briefly kicked around the idea of heading to PA this weekend for motorama. Buying the new kit last weekend put an end to that real fast. Good find! Thanks for sharing! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |
