Yup it’s looking like a full on mall crawler. I have headlights and a lightbar just haven’t installed them yet. A grill would be nice, who makes them

I thought about magnets but the way I drive I don’t think they would hold the body on. I think I would be constantly messing with it. Iv never used them before, how well do they work?

Get some rare earth ring magnets. The guys at gcm use them on everything. They were picking up trucks and shaking them by the body and holding fine. I wouldn't use them if you're building a basher, but for trail use, should be more than adequate and much more slightly

I wasn't sure what mine were, was recalling that I cut some down to 32mm, measured last night and 32mm is perfect with a flat washer under head of screw, all Vaterra ball ends and stock black Vaterra 3mm nylock nut on the inside.

Nice, love McMaster.com etc, so many high quality fasteners and for a good price.

Did that skid raise the trans much? I have been thinking about doing something similar but I don't want the trans raised if I can help it.

Since I took my Ascender out for its maiden voyage Sunday afternoon for about 4 hours or aver 2 miles (man not only did my Ascender work hard but damn so did I with all the walking we did) I had a few minutes to go over the it and dust it off some and check over everything.

To my surprise the shocks didn't leak (when I first got the new Vaterra aluminum ones they leaked like a faucet but I put all new Traxxas X rings in and green slime and not a drop of leakage now. The Micro X esc and 2250 Slate motor from Castle where a perfect combo and the thing never ever got warm as I checked it and it was at outside temp do about 60 degrees at best and it used about no power as my 5000mah 2s lipo 100C was at 7.71 after all that running so I'm more than happy with the Castle Creations setup.

The Hyrax tires with the PL molded inserts (Natedog gave me a tip to try those out and he nailed it if you ask me) as they went up stuff that I thought no way in hell can my truck do that and it did. The aluminum PL Forged rims where equally up to the task as they mounted up perfectly to the Hyrax tires. Yeah I spent a good amount of money on this combo but it was well worth it now.

Made a few little changes for the next we go out so will see how that goes. So glad I bought an Ascender.

last night i tore down the whole rear of the truck to install the GCM rear leaf conversion (minus the leafs, rc4wd cant keep them in stock!).
hit a bit of a snag, need to drill/tap the codyboy axle tubes to mount the shock/spring brackets.
stopping by dixiline on my way home from work for a 3x0.5 tap ;)
will post results later.

oh and i must say, the quality of the parts form GCM are nothing short of INCREDIBLE!

Good to hear, I was thinking of doing up a super short wheelbase Ascender (RC4WD LandCruiser body) using a GCM leaf spring conversion, though I guess I'd still be on coils up front so I'm not sure if I'll go for it.

now you got me wondering if the rear kit would work up front, just... backwards?
might be able to fab up your own mounts. i got the GCM kit to see how much i could do away with and fab my own brackets. maybe... just gonna run it out of the package and see what i can do to streamline it later on. the spring bracket frame extensions are BULKY.

*from GCM, not my actual truck

BrokeBob I really that body. I have one to put on but it needs painted and I'm not sure if I want to make it look realistic or go for my standard off road paint scheme that is very wild but either way love that body on your truck. I like my 68 Ford but still like that Chevy better.

NICE!!!
what ESC you running? i don't trust my trigger finger to drive like that in 2nd gear with a drag brake ESC... i wonder if there is a way to program a fancy ESC (ie: tekin) to have drag brake in 1st gear (or low), and shifting would tell the ESC to turn the drag brake off for full speed blasting like that.

is this possible? did i fail ESC programming 101?

Actually one with jumpers would be the way to go. You could have a solenoid of some sort to switch the jumper setting depending on the gear. Or a slide 2 position switch to change the jumper

Castle Creations Mamba X has this feature on their auxiliary wire (crawler/rock Racer mode), I've got it set up in my Brushless wraith with 2 speed, no more front flips when you get out of the throttle
