Best to have a look on their store and get what you want. The lower springs on my XD shocks are 50mm long. Your shocks may have different size.

Sounds good, thanks

I painted the inside of my K10 earth brown.

It draws less attention to the vacant interior now.

Got a HH Torquemaster Expert 27T and installed it with a Losi 88T spur and 12T pinion. I'm surprised at the wheelspeed, it's still pretty good, and oh so smooth. Slow speed is just super smooth - I like it, going to test it out today. The gear chart says this is about 58:1. IIRC stock is about 45:1 with the 86spur and 14 pinion.

So now I have my other one with a 45T motor and stock gearing. They seem to be similar. I wanted a comparison with motorspeed and gearing setup. Not sure which has the advantage, if any, but I suspect the 45T motor is more efficient for battery life. I run 3S in both, the Protek hi-volt compact 3600mah packs.

What should I expect from these two? Pros and cons? I was after better crawl performance from stock and both do that.

Good morning Chris, I would suspect that your battery run time may not be as good trailing with the 45T only because you may be using more throttle to keep a good pace. IMO anyway?
And I think you should go with the VS4-10, we could compare set-ups at Proline By the Fire this year (so far my upgrades are a V2 Vanquish dig and some of my home brew closed cell foams). I'll start a build thread some time soon.

Ah...so you'll be there.

I have my doubts about getting an Origin simply for the $$. Too many other priorities.
I like the platform though, lots nice goodies with that one.

I got to test both out today in depth. Some really great crawling at Corona Del Mar rocks at the mouth of Newport Harbor. It rained last night, but was dry and 63 with bright sunshine. And hardly a soul there - the californicators only come out in the summer. LOL

Anyway, the 27T motor with lower gearing is quite a bit faster on wheelspeed and crawls just as well as the 45T motor with stock gearing.

The 27T HH motor does seem to be a little smoother, although they both will crawl at a barely-moving speed if you want them to - much easy for maneuvering in the rocks. Both impressed me with our regular lines out there - it's a great test ground.

I'm still torn as to which one is better. They seem more similar than different. The 27T motor might have an edge cuz it does slow crawl just as nicely as the 45T but goes a lot faster if you want to walk with it. For the really technical rocks they're barely moving anyway. Both worked equally well with drag braking - you could front flip it if you let it.

The steepness of rock faces these will climb is astounding. That 60* mark seems more than do-able. The Pibull RB XL's have a slight edge over the stock vaterra tsl's, and they roll over bigger obstacles. They seem to grip a shade better at the edge of traction. Neither had issues with ground clearance or getting high-centered. I hate it when that happens. LOL

My 45T is a Yeah Racing V2 Hackmoto, the 27T is a Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Expert (I think the HH is a 3-pole motor vs 2, but not exactly sure.)
Both are silent running. The Losi 88T spur works just like the stock 86. I tighten the slipper-clutch down pretty close to bottom on both rigs.

The new Vanquish front axle shafts worked flawlessly - they're in the 27T chassis. This guy:

This one has the 45T motor - both have weighted axles and wheels.

Edit: I just put both batteries on discharge and the 27T one used quite a bit less battery.

I love those 27t. I'd still be using them but they don't fit in my recent builds.

I gave my Bronco Ascender to my brother in law for his birthday, he's been wanting to get into R/C and with his recent back surgery and not working funds were tight so now he has a rig, battery and charger to get him started.

Current pics with new motors. The first is the 88 spur with 12T pinion, 27T motor. I'm updating all my motor connections to 4mm gold Castle plugs. They're easy to solder and provide a good solid waterproof connection while remaining easy to change out. This is a wonderful motor, though not sure how different from the YR version. They are both quiet and smooth. I've been running a 35T YR Hackmoto for the past year and it's been flawless. I just wanted to try the alternate motor speeds and gearing as a comparison. They both have HobbyWing 1080 ESC's and run on 3S power.

Chassis pics with the new motors. Funny, the spur on the HH motor is 2 teeth larger than the top one, but looks smaller. Optical illusion.
The top one is 6lbs 4oz and the bottom one 10 ounces more - right at 7lbs. There's a lot of weight in the axles and hubs.

I added the front Bumper from the 72 Chevy Ascender RTR to my F100 and painted up a new bodyas well. Stuck with the same Vaterra Ford body but no more Orange and white rtr look.

The can size is the same - just winding turns are different. [shrug]
Ascender uses a 540-size can.

Default What did you do to/with your Ascender today

I’d like some rock sliders for my K10, but I have not really seen any I love the look of, particularly with regards to the start/end points. I’d want them to cover exactly the length of the rocker, not starting 7mm behind the wheel well, not covering beyond the cab. Also, some are insanely expensive in Canadian dollars.

I’m somewhat limited in my DIY skills (I won’t be doing any brazing or TIG welding), so I’m debating what course I may or may not take. I’m also somewhat lazy when it comes to this kind of stuff.

So, in the mean time, I made some low profile body mounted rocker guards.

EDIT
The two sided mounting tape did not hold the rocker guards on during crashes in frigid temperatures, so I scrapped them.
