I have the Deep Woods on my No:2 Ascender. They work well in wet stuff, grass mud and moss covered rocks. I need softer foams, the CI ones i have now seem too stiff, but only done 1 run so far and that was in very cold weather.

For rocks and hardpack dirt they need good stiff foam to support the lugs, the tire carcass is thin and has no internal ribbing, and they are quite large. IMO Proline or Vaterra TSLs are better.

Been saving money for the new F100 and and spending for the holidays so have not gotten anything major for the Bronco. I did pick up a cool faux steering stabilizer from RC4WD and a set of 12x8mm hexes from GPM Racing to make up for the 2mm positive offset on the Gmade steelies to restore the factory track width. |

I might have time this weekend to work on the Bronco and get the new Hobbywing 1080 esc in and maybe get the brass "beef-slab" cut up for the battery tray. Not that she needs any more weight up front with the already heavy Gmade steelies and the SSD brass knuckles. Anyways, I'm excited to give the new esc a try with all the customizable settings. |

Got the Hobbywing 1080 esc in and also moved the small auxiliary battery tray I had above the esc and relocated it above the servo. I originally had a small carbon fiber battery plate from a drone mounted above the esc with a couple 25mm standoffs to hold a 800mHa 3s for the light bar and bumper lights. Turns out that the mounting holes for the esc plate is the exact same width as the servo mounting screws. So I figured I'll try it there, I should have no traction issues between the two batteries, Gmade steelies and SSD brass knuckles. I redid the wiring but ran out of 18 gauge to finish the bumper lights, so I guess a trip to HobbyTown is in order. So anyone looking to relocate their esc to the front just swap out 2 of the servo screws with two 15 or 20mm screws and pick up some 20, 25 or 30mm standoffs depending on your servo height. Use the longer screws through the servo mount and up into the standoffs then use the original servo screws to attach the esc plate to the standoffs. (wheel base 3 & 4 can use shorter standoffs (maybe 15 or 20mm) and screws due to the servo bottom mounting on brackets) Last edited by ScoJac; 12-30-2017 at 05:14 PM. |

^^^ Excellent mod - and too funny, as I am in the midst of swapping out my electronics right now... I'm planning on mounting the ESC on the transmission housing, and the receiver on the ESC plate up front parallel to the servo - which I am rotating 90deg from the original transverse location. Not worried about waterproofing the receiver for now, I don't run in wet conditions. Just need to figure out a little antenna loop - I'm thinking through the unused lower body post holes... Got a very odd idea - I just removed the brackets that hold the rear of the battery plate to the chassis - and they look like they'd function as RULRs... probably not smart, but delirium is setting in again! |

Looks good, but if you put auxiliary battery in front of servo, your sidehill ability will be better. |

Ah, won't even come close to working as RULRs, unless I perhaps ran with no gear cover... Don't like doing that. OK, got dain-bramage, going to bed... Soldering for the first time in 10yrs comes tomorrow - or is it later today? |

durok, if you are still rocking the Spectrum SR310 receiver it's waterproof.

Everything is to be swapped now, FlySKy rx, no-name 20KG (WP)servo, HW 1080 ESC, Holmes Trailmaster 550 21t. Actually, I'm hoping the servo is good - so I'm referring to it by it's model number ( DS3218 ) from now on (although it does not have a mfg name anywhere on the servo and came in a plastic bag with no additional info - just the free aluminum servo arm) If it sucks I'll say so: "Waterproof DS3218 20KG Large Torque Digital Servo Stall Torque (5V): 19 kg/cm (263.8oz/in) Stall Torque (6.8V): 21.5 kg/cm (298.5 oz/in) Speed : 0.16 sec/60°(5V) / 0.14 sec/60°(6.8V) Operating Voltage: 4.8 ~ 6.8 DC Volts Dead brand: 3μs Weight: 60 g (2.12 oz) Motor Type: DC Motor Gear Type: Copper & Aluminum Working frequence: 1520μs / 333hz Size: 40 x 20 x 40.5 mm ( 1.58 x 0.79 x 1.60 in) Features: - High performance digital standard servo - High-precision metal gears with hard anodizing - CNC aluminium middle Shell - Dual ball bearings Package Included: 1 x DS3218 20KG Large Torque Digital Servo 1 x 25T Adjustable metal servo arm" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Going ahead with the Holmes 550 Trailmaster install as it's 37deg outside and I may as well wait the couple days that it'll take for the BPC battery relocator to arrive before taking it out for it's first run in a modified state. So, I removed factory battery tray completely. Learning how to use my Xmas present today - a Jajaplus 908+ adjustable temp soldering iron (well, I've soldered in the past w/a shitty unadjustable Wenger...): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X944YDW...E1R244CT&psc=1 Got 4mm bullets for my Mamba X, 6.5mm bullets for my Mamba Monster X, and 3.5mm bullets for the HW 1080. Motors are HH PP 3500kv, HH PP 2200kv, and Trailmaster 550 21t. Got 10pr of AMass XT60+ male/female plugs for my 5 LiPo battery packs. I think I'm going to at least test the K10 with the ESC up front next to the rotated 90deg servo and the rx on top of the servo... I read up a bit and it's not supposed to be an issue mounting the rx there... and it's featherweight, shouldn't be a COG problem. That way I won't have any wiring running back to the rx box out back, which isn't waterproof anyway. A final note - if anyone who has their servo in the perpendicular-to-direction-of-travel location (not using the red plastic mounts, but the add-on black crossbar) could post an underside pic of their steering linkage/servo arm setup - I'd be most appreciative! | |

Durok, I put my receiver on top of my servo. No problems at all . No interference or heat issues.

Speaking of electronics... Finally opened up my radio gear last night and just threw it all together and see whats what. Still no pinion gear so no maiden voyage, nor does it have a shift servo to even hold it in either certain gear. Anyway, steers like a champ and i discovered why a winch controller is not optional lol so i need to hit up heyok for what would work best for a dedicated variable winch channel. I made a little vid i might post on my build thread. My first ever episode of rc stuff on youtube? *yup! Vid is up! https://youtu.be/W_hLMpG1TAc Last edited by Shinchu; 12-31-2017 at 03:23 PM. |
