I might try some tape first to get some bite. Option 3/C is to drill out the threading on the chub and do a screw and nut combo. TBA.

Sorry I missed this, the TRX-4 weights are taking up way to much of my time! PM sent

Delivered. Now I'm just stuck here ("work") for a little over 6 more hours and then it's straight to the basement tonight. I cut some more RULR brackets that I need to poke a few holes in for the original Ascender too. Still haven't gotten the rear chassis brace ordered for it though. Bills before toys...

Awesome, something extra to look forward to after work! What rear chassis brace?

The piece that holds the cage to the chassis on the K10 and the bumper mounts on the K5. I stole the one off my original to make the new rear mount for the caged body. Pics a few posts back

Just in time for the weekend? If they work for you we can work something out on the shocks later. Maybe a trade of some kind.

Yessir!! Now if only I didn't have to close the shop tomorrow and work on Saturday... Price I pay to play I guess. One more reason I need to get the backyard project finished.

Axle swap is complete and I'm gonna swap the shocks in a minute. Trade sounds good to me. I've got a pretty good idea what you'll be receiving in said trade.. I just need to find a box..

Thanks again Ernie! You are a rare breed and I appreciate everything you do. Don't let those TRX boys take up too much if your free time.

Shocks went in this morning. Ernie was kind and sent an extra set of firm springs that I'm gonna have to toss on the rears. She's a little saggy in the back end right now . This also means I can shelf the aluminum Vaterra's for for a bit so I used their metal spacers to outboard the rears in the swap process. Pics tonight cause I know you guys like those.

Holy torque twist Batman!! With the caged shell weighing close to 2 lbs, even with the firm springs Ernie sent me, it just plants that left rear corner. So off the shelf came the aluminum Vaterra shocks... pivot ball or lack there of and the collar between the springs snagging on the threads have been my biggest gripe with them. So after a bit of head scratching I found that the stock plastic shock caps thread on the aluminum bodies. Problem 1 solved. Next issue was the collar and I figured no collar, no issue. So off came the upper spring and collar and just screwed the top collar all the way down. Torque twist is still there, but significantly reduced. I've got 35 weight oil in the rears now but I might jump up a bit thicker and buy the lower Vaterra spring set for the firm's to see if that helps. Last resort is buy a swaybar.

Since the picture I've taken both the spacers and moved them between the shock and bracket.

The wraith swaybar kit by hot racing is a good deal, you get 2 full swaybar sets for cheap. I attached mine the the frame using some traxxas rod ends inverted through the big body post mounts on the frame (screw and washer from the top). And run the swaybar through th metal balls in the rod ends. Not sure if that all makes sense. If not let me know and I can send a picture. The swaybar takes care of all the TT.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I think I'm just gonna order the swaybar kit when I order springs and a few other odds and ends to have it on hand if need be.

I have. Only once but the shocks performed much better. Need a little tuning but overall much better. Stripped the spur that day so it was a short one but the replacement is installed and ready to run. I spent last weekend working in the yard so I didn't get to play at all. This weekend I'll get a chance to run it some more.

Going out tomorrow night after work and decided to take a peek in OG's axles and swap out the old non-HD driveshafts for some MIP's. Take look what I found... something hadn't felt right the last time I had it out but the battery died right after and she went on the shelf after a quick bath. In the parts bin I dive to see if I have spare...

Edit: Great success!

Oh looky, non-HD pinion gear. Check the ring gear too just in case, new upgraded HD parts are inexpensive.

Yup that's what I checked right after I saw the pinion had gone. It looks good but I'll be ordering a pair soon. Parts bin fodder until stuff breaks. Front is buttoned back up and now we see what the rear holds...

Don't you get a ton of body rub with those big Hyrax tires tucked under there?

Not too bad. With the Codyboy axles I can run the body a hole or 2 higher without too many issues.
