| Vaterra Ascender Aftermarket shock tower (rear)
I just noticed something very odd... Boom Racing makes some aftermarket aluminum parts for the Ascender - and the images for the rear shock towers differ for the gunmetal version - it has 6 shock mounting options whereas all the other colors only have the one option (as does the stock) - also, it doesn't have the Boom Racing logo that they like to put on all their parts (unlike the other colors) - Curious about getting these and seeing if the alternate mounting points offer any help with the rear shock action: |

Interesting! I was looking at more adjustable mounts as I think that's one thing the Ascender could do with. I did look at GPM's website a while back as they do stuff for Ascender. |

Interesting for sure. The photos are the same on AsiaTees. If I were you I'd chat with the AsiaTees reps just to confirm. It definitely looks like one color is designed differently though. Odd. https://www.asiatees.com/display?Vat...nder&id=115507 |

I notice the front shock towers have a separate piece for the panhard mount. I was thinking of how to move it out to give a longer panhard rod to reduce side to side movement, which would help bump steer. GPM do orange stuff as well.

The black ones are for those sissies concerned with lame things like matching part colors. The raw shock towers are for men who care about MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE! They need the advantage of moving their shocks forward 3mm but can't have that black anodizing adding micrograms of sprung weight to their chassis. PERFORMANCE! Comp life bro, Boom Racing gets it. |

i have a can of black paint that can make the best of both worlds lol i would be interested for my truck but I'm going leafs out back. cool for those running coils though! lean 'em forward! THIS, however... Quote:
I've been wondering if i could fab something like an L bracket, and just move it to the back of the stock panhard mount (kinda like high mounting the steering on stock knuckles) but if i can get a separate mount? NICE. might get me a set of fronts... Last edited by Shinchu; 01-22-2018 at 10:09 AM. | |

That could work. After all this time I'm still enjoying tinkering with both my Ascenders. With the separate panhard mount it would make alterations so much easier.

A bit more shock mount adjustability on Ascender 2 (if one comes sometime) would be useful

I ordered the gunmetal one, it's on sale for a few bucks cheaper than all the other colors - I think it may be old stock, and that when it was redesigned they began putting their logo on it like all the rest of their stuff. I'm not even bothering with fronts, I only wanted to check it out because of the alternate mounts. Same reason I bought the Boom Racing "BullRope" rear shock mount/crossbrace for the Bomber - it has 18(!) alternate mounting locations. |

Would be nice if front and rear mounts had more optional shock mounting holes. Keep us posted how the towers work out when you get them.

Tried calling as well as the"24-hour" live chat support... LOL, no-one there! Was just going to touch base. Absolutely no where I can see on the web is there a silver or "gunmetal" Boom Racing rear tower pic other than that one. All other manufacturers have single mount locations. Since it was my first direct order from Asiatee's site (have ordered from them through Amazon before) they gave me 10% off, and it's already on sale... No worries. Even if it came with one set of holes, I'd feel better about attaching a shock mount relocation adapter to aluminum rather than plastic. Last edited by durok; 01-22-2018 at 12:26 PM. |

do a screen grab with part number and picture so if something different shows up you can dispute.
