nice! and great question about the black smoke... i wonder how that could be done with existing smoke kits? just add black dye to the juice? i wonder if the vape community has figured out how to make the smoke different colors... i often ponder... are we making rc trucks into models? or models into rc trucks? |

Builds like this give inspiration. I just may have happened to have had a new F-100 fallow me home today, and after looking through your thread again, I've be inspired to dig through the scale goodies and start outfitting the new ride. Wont be anything close to what you've done here, Ernie, but I need to get back into the scale end of things, and after looking at your truck I have the scale itch again |

I always know that I'm going to be "oohing & ahhing" over all the creative and inspirational surprises when I open up a CODYBOY thread! Great ideas and fantastic execution of those ideas, Ernie.

Just a little update, I put together a practice body for this truck so I don't scratch up my Power Wagon body before we get to the Proline by the Fire event coming up this weekend.http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/pro-line-fire/ I did some testing last night and this truck is working awesome. See some of you this weekend! Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 05-14-2018 at 08:49 AM.

What a Build!!!!!! Nicely Done and very well detailed. This was a Joy to read and get great ideas from for I have been thinking about throwing a set of TRX4 portal axles under my ascender for the past few months but cant seem to find it in me to actually pay the asking price for a set! Then I find this and it is the best of both worlds!!! I want to give this a shot and would ask if you could maybe possibly guide me through the process of marrying the two. Really would like to know the the brass pipes diameter and washer used for axles tubes to join the chub. Thanks in Advance. |

I will help any way I can. This truck was amazing at the Pro-Line by the Fire event last month. It would pull line pretty easy that some of the other trucks had to work to hit. It made for a lot of fun! The pipe is 1/8" brass pipe that I get from ZORO. The washers are scrap from when I was building weights for the Trx4s. If you'd like I can send you what you need. If you have access to a lathe and drill press you should be able to machine everything fine if not it may be a little tuff for you. The trx4 parts will run you over $100 so something to think when weighing the pros and cons to buying trx4 portals. It isn't a cheap project to build, but if you enjoy tinkering like me it is very rewarding to do! Ernie Last edited by CODYBOY; 06-01-2018 at 09:58 AM.

Well, this truck is being boxed up and headed to a new home in Maine! Last week I received a request to maybe build a set of these Hybrid ascender axles. I had consciously not pushed these axles because of the engineering and parts it takes to build them. The price I would need to ask for them would be overwhelming. So I told my friend that I didn't want to take that on. I thought about it a little and decided to offer the whole truck to him. After a little discussion I thought he deserved to have the truck more than me! (After all I've been working on kind of a quite build with portals and Toyzuki V2 chassis). We agreed on a price, and boy is his crawling buddy with a new TRX4 going to be surprised! I hope he choses to let us know what he has planned for the truck. I feel honored that he even wanted it as I see him as one of the better scratch builder/Home brew engineers on here. No, he isn't getting the body!!! Without getting teary eyed, it is always hard to say good by to one of my creations. !!! Ernie Just a little side note, I am still building various versions of my Codyboy ascender axles!! I hadn't run this truck since Pro-line By the Fire last year so, it going on the trip across the US was the right thing to do!!! He will have fun with it. Ernie

Thanks Fish!! It was one of those "I have a crazy idea running around in my head that won't let me sleep" things! I talk a little with the new owner and he wants to stay on the QT for a little while longer! Ernie
