Here’s the best way to eliminate the classic Ascender Torque Twist.... Hahahahahahahaha And the second best way to eliminate TT is to install axial 10.2 axles... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by THX_138; 03-13-2018 at 08:19 AM. |

| Re: Shock Setup Tip for reducing Torque Twist Yes, the defining characteristic of the Ascender is torque twist so I surrender the nomenclature. Henceforth my K5 will be known as Spaceman’s revenge. I have a test for all my C2 and C3 rigs that I call the stair test. There are three concrete steps from my patio to the stoop and the test is to ascend the steps at about a 45 degree angle up all three steps. The first rig to do it was my slightly modified TRX4. Next was the bone stock 10.2. The Ascender never even made the first step even after all the usual mods and then with stock springs, no sway bar as 10.2 axles, Spaceman’s revenge made 2 of the three steps. The only limitation was the skid and I’m having a high clearance skid printed as we speak and I’m confident this will bring Spaceman’s revenge closer to par with the TRX4 and 10.2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For the torque twist are you putting the modified shock on the right rear of the truck? I had it on my right rear and the truck when hitting the throttle would twist and lean on the left rear so did I put the shock on the wrong side or too much tension on the right rear shock?

Do both rear shocks. Doing the fronts will help even more, best to do all four.

I finally made it out on Sunday and used the shock mod that Rich posted up for everyone and that simple mod did the trick for my truck. I worked great before the mod but now it stays down without twisting. Amazing such a simple change like Rich showed could make so much difference but it did. Thanks for posting that mod as it really settled my Ascender down. Couldn't be happier with my truck overall. Glad I went with Ascender platform as it works well and one of the easier crawlers I worked on. Thanks again for the shock tip. |

I found a quick easy way to sand these down, put all four on a empty shock body as close to the bottom of the shock body as possible and run them all together tight so they lock together, put a shock cap on it and chuck it up in a drill press hand tight so it's tight enough to spin but not so tight that it ruins the cap or shock body, try to get it to spin as true as possible, may take a few tries, once it's spinning true hold a good file against the adjusters till they look like sleeves and you all set. |

Can you buy just the adjuster nuts somewhere? I would like to do this on the build I am working on, but would rather just try to use the stock shocks for now. I see that you can buy the whole shock parts kit, but do not need everything, just the adjuster nuts. Thanks.

The only way to get the adjuster nuts is buy the 13.99 shock pack with bodies, caps, etc at this time. Unless you know someone willing to part with just the adjuster nuts.
