Did a little more work to get ready for the new body and new color.

I'm excited for the new body. Kinda like a kid on Christmas lol.

I'm kind of a odd duck that has a hard time spending money on visual items that I can make myself. Instead of spending 60 on diff covers I made my own. I also had to get rid of the green on the links. It just wasn't pretty with the orange.

I also decided I'm probably going to get rid of the Aschammer. My wife found out about my new kit coming and told me to return it or get rid of one as 2 rigs was more than I need. I have been enjoying the ascender more than I thought I would so another one is a must. Bad part is I have way too much invested in the Aschammer. What's a guy to do?

Is that the 66 Chevy body? I think I need that for my WB4 crawler.
That looks like WB2 though - cross-mount servo.

68 Ford from the Vaterra V100. It's going to be a challenge to do what I have in mind but I think it should look pretty cool

I take it you cannot buy that body any more, is that right?

I'm looking for something interesting for my WB4 for comp crawling (reads: beat the crap out of LOL)

You can still get it. It is just shy of the bronco wb. I changed the to the shortest wb and staggered the back wheel about 3/16 and it all lined up. It's not cheap considering how small it is and I have to do the tape and hot glue trick because it has holes in it. Amazon has the best price. The back is getting cut out so I only have to do the front.

Getting closer. Was a lot of work and quite a bit more to go.

I had to shrink down the cage which involves tweaking everything and then get it back in and have to take it apart to adjust something else. Which you then have to tweak everything you just changed so it all fits together. Pretty happy with the way it's coming out though.

That's looking great, love the short wheelbase C10 body, your bed cage shrinking is interesting!

So I'm going to have to make light buckets. This body shares the exact same cab as the ascender f100 body and has a plastic grill BUT the head light is not the same. Solid plastic with made for stickers. From what I have seen you can not order just the grill for the f100 and I don't want to order an entire body just to get it. I guess I will have to machine out this one and paint it silver and make lenses. Oh well I have to finish taping and paint it before I worry about that.

It's actually a short wheel base f100. They do however make a c10. Thanks for the kind words. I have read all 700 pages of your thread for ideas and entertainment!

Oops, F100 it is comes in blue or clear iirc. I used Axial AX30709 for my C10 lights, cut two of the buckets loose, and glued into the grill.

I saw that in your thread and was thinking about that. It is cheaper than buying a body kit for the grill lol. Thanks for the reminder I might do that.

looking GREAT! saw a pic you posted in smog's thread and it led me here. how have i not seen this?! you know i got a thing for ascender fords ;)

your bed cut looks AWESOME and the cage fits fantastically. my favorite part that i might have to "borrow" somehow for mine: the ammo can! haha always thought those are the coolest "man luggage" you can get.
I'm actually a little surprised nobody on shapeways makes a grill for that truck?? its all the rage right now between RC Nerds, Knight Customs, etc...
your fender openings are great and very clean. bigger than stock but still not overkill. well done!

only bummer for this body is that its *just* barely not wide enough... i know those pains lol my Jconcepts 79 is about the same width (7 inches vice the normal 8 for average crawlers)

but you are doing great things here! keep it up! cant wait to see it painted!

Thanks. I am also thinking of adding some smaller tires. With this wheelbase it's just not right. Was thinking of pit bulls is some sort probably or sx swampers

Had to chime in also. Your truck looks great! I wondered about that body, but figured it was just too small. Love integrating the rear cage. Started doing that on a project, but gave up as it just wasn't feasible. Again truck looks great. Vintage Fords Rock!

If I hadn't just cut the bed out I would have made my own cage for it after I found out how much modifications it took to get it to fit. It would have been easier to braze up a cage but steel is just so heavy and up top which I didn't want because I am planning on putting an interior in it.
