It has been a while so thought I would post up some pics of druz's Ascender axles. I thought I would start building these again.

Front axle weight.

Total added weight.

A set of these axles on my jeep build.

Thanks for looking.

Ernie

Those last ones pictures a wider width? That why the custom ground axle shafts at the differential side?

If anyone is on the fence with this design, they’re great. Stout, and well made. Ernie is a great guy to deal with and talk to

Hey Ben, trust you guys had a great Christmas!!!! The axles are all the same width, if you look at the chubs relationship to the link mounts they are all within a MM or so, no more. The axle shafts are axial shafts that I turned down the tangs and brazed a SS sleeve to it and then filed it to fit the ascender diff. Hope that answers your question?

That’s right, forgot about the axial axle shafts. Been a while I guess. Christmas was very good thank you! Keep up the good work man!

I don't know if I mentioned, but the upper link mount holes are drilled out and tapped all the way into the brass. This feature really firms up the mount. And the 3mm screws heads are turned down so they seat into the link mount holes! I also clocked the chubs 2 degrees past stock for even better steering. Hope they fit your needs, and thanks for checking us out!

These look really nice! Knuckles look different though - stock or something aftermarket?
Lead time?
Comes with the weights? Or source them separately?

EDIT: Also, you probly said so already, but why Axial axles?
And do you happen to know if the stock Vaterra front axle is of a different metal compound than the claimed 4160 chromoly from Vanquish? I just replaced mine in my 'codybody alxe' with the VP ones.

Hey Chris, the chubs and knuckles are AR44 axle parts made by SSD. I started offering this option way back when the ascender first came out and they were having trouble with weak axles and availability. I started making them with SCX10 chubs and knuckles and when the AR44s came out I switched to them. The Axial shaft, chubs, and knuckles allow the ascender axles to achieve almost 65 degrees of steering.

I include the knuckle weights.

I don't know about the hardness of the axles sorry.

If your looking for bullet proof axles I have built some with modified super axles from Erik at DLUX Fab. I'll find the link. Also look at the front axles I put in the truck in this build thread. Quality cost $$$ though.

Ah, those are interesting. 70* of turn? Wow!
At a hundred bucks a pair I can only imagine what a finished axle costs.

BTW, how do these compare to what Vanquish is putting in their rig?

Yes, they would be pushing 400 clams. They aren't for everyone but I have done 6 variations using those axles.
I will let you know how the VP axles compare, I'm pretty sure I can get that much out of them with a little work. I will post up when I start my VS4-10 build. I plan on doing a few things to make it a little different than the rest.

What are you looking for Chris, I might have it? You can PM me if you want to keep what's under sleeves there for a while.

thanks Ernie but i doubt you have one of these... I've been watching the classifieds like a hawk and the closest thing i saw was a CMAX i missed by 3 hours.

if it gets too close to deadline i might just buy some frame rails/axles and go full custom
