Oh trust me you guys I am safe.
I have my eye protection hanging on the same peg as my dremel so I cant use it without putting them on first.
Fumes I was half kidding. I had the door open and only had the cap off the squadron putty for about 10 minutes while smearing the edges.
Primer was done outside with garage closed so as not to contaminate the air in the garage.

But thanks for your concern I sincerely appreciate it, and I am also pretty surprised at how well this is turning out for being my first time scratch building with styrene and putty.

Did a little work for better definition of the dents on the cab wall, and a good coat of primer over everything.
Just need to glue the cab wall in place and it should be time to paint!

Went through all the parts bags to separate all the stuff for the rear we wont be using...

Almost forgot about the hood!

Made some final adjustments to the cab wall before we glue it on. Picked up some paint and rear window plexiglass at hobby lobby.

Should see some neat stuff soon!

Cab wall is glued in! Might need to add some strips in the corners to add strength though.
Then putty the gaps, sand and prime.
Almost painting time!

Me too haha
I am making 20 minutes per step progress as it is STILL like an oven inside my garage. San Diego has not yet received the memo that it's FALL.

I could start on interior too I suppose.

Well that's one advantage I suppose... My rattle cans are in perfect condition lol I just shake for like 10 seconds and its a perfect mist. Problem is the afternoon breeze always blows my overspray right into my garage lol so I have to shut the door while actively spraying. And yes for some reason I always spray in the afternoon when the breeze kicks up??

That said... Paint is getting closer!
Putty in the gaps before sanding

Couple strips in the corners to add some strength

Almost ready!

Sanded

And primed

Not too happy with this squadron green putty.
Comes out more like spakle and is all crumbly and looks like craters even after sanding.
Bleh. I have seen some tamiya putty at hobby lobby. Might get some next time I am there.
Plus the squadron stuff stinks like hell. I dont even let Andrew in here when im using it. And yes I have the door open.

Not sure if you discussed the color - but I drove an orange one once - a shortbed 2wd with a healthy 350 and BF Goodrich Radial T/As on some fairly wide 15" wheels...

Was a friend's dad's truck, loaded up with her stuff moving to an apartment.

On the way back I got on the throttle a few times, really was a sweet truck!

Nice work, Shinchu - sorry I haven't commented on your progress earlier, been busy training at my new job!

(what's really cool is that Miatardo and I are once again workin' together - although we may end up with different schedules - keeping fingers crossed that we don't, cuz I need to keep my crawlin' buddy on the same one...)

Sweet! That's good to hear. I love when a plan comes together ;)

This wont be orange but its close? Wait amd see. I already habe the tamiya TS cans on the bench.
Just need more putty, sanding, priming, sanding, priming.

Andrew picked interior color too.
I should start that.

Squadron green putty was crappy way back when I was in junior high school and probably now too apparently. I’m always impressed with Tamiya paints, give their putty a go!

Dirk, congratulations on a new job with Miatardo!

Mmmm chocolate and bananas!

Thanks Ernie!
Might have to get Andrew some time on the tarmac and see if we can get good enough for our local track!
