Default New Parts?!

Evidently a couple new parts are coming from Vaterra. I haven't found pictures yet but they tweeted VTR332012 - Lower trans shaft with v2 drive shaft cups and MORE interestingly VTR331016 - Solid mount battery tray conversion. No more shorty packs (unless you've already upgraded that.)

Good to see some new parts from Vaterra hit the market.

Yep, tranny output shaft with through-holes so no more loose setscrews on driveshaft cups!

Nice solid mount battery tray option with room for longer packs.

Placed my order for the shaft. Let’s see how well it works!

FYI, The battery tray eliminates the floating battery tray but it comes with adapters to lock a shorty pack in the center of the tray. It will work on all 4 wheelbases.

The shaft is a direct replacement and accept the threaded type drive pin. I've been running them for a while with no issues "knocking on wood"

These are not the releases i have alluded to in the past, we still have a few more things for 2018.

Thanks,
Rich

I used to drill my output shaft and use axial screw pins. At last Vaterra have caught up with me.

Excellent - glad to see some updates! Odd that we get excited about pin through shafts...

I love the front, floating tray. An Ascender without it just isn't an Ascender IMO. But that's just my preference. The pins are a nice update, but I probably won't buy them. I've never had to remove the driveshafts for any reason.

I'm glad to hear there are still more Ascender parts coming. Fingers are still crossed that it's axles or gears!

Agreed however, one push back we've always gotten from dealers is the inability to use a "full size pack". Even though "shorty" packs have been readily available, dealers hate to tell consumers you have to buy a "Special" battery. This will help address these issues along with the few that run "SORRCA" events that go by the rules 100%.

Sorry no new axles or gears.

Rich

Yeah I assume the tray was made for the competitors that enter into SORRCA rules comps and the average person without shorty packs. If only they tried shorty packs I think they'd be impressed.

You just broke my heart!

I am curious to see what else is coming.

This is just excellent news - I can remove my heavy metal BPC tray and use it in my upcoming 2nd Bomber build that has carbon fiber chassis rails...

And install this on the Ascender, for a lower COG!

I just ordered a battery tray for the F-100, from the picture above it might accept installing a 550 can in there now ?

Anyone interested, here is an exploded view showing just how hit installs.

Exploded View

Rich Trujillo, how much room is there between the tray and the end of the stock 540 motor ?
I'm wanting to drop in a 550 can. Either a HH Trailmaster Sport or a Titan 21t.

From the very bottom edge of the motor can to the mounts that hold the battery tray to the chassis is about 5mm but you can see there is a lot more room between the end of the battery tray and the motor shaft.

Rich:

I'll ask what others may be thinking...

The next Ascender release that has been rumoured - could it be a new body on top of the existing platform with these two new improvements already installed?

Enquiring minds want to know!

(and I realize this might be too much to ask, but what about the torque-twist reducing shock mod making it into production?)

I am always an Axial friend. But I really like to try out of ascender if they really come out a new model. Off Center front axles would be more nicer to have. Cheers
