| Vaterra aluminum shock upper mount fix?
Ok guys, what is the best way to make a top pivot for the vaterra aluminum shocks. I’ve got a set that was on a used Truck I bought. I refused to buy these shocks because of a lack of included pivot for the top mount and the sloppyness of trying to come up with something to work. I’m ready to just put a plastic top cap on them because I’ve got spares but figured I’d ask before going that route. Thanks. Ben |

Off the top of my head, all I can think of is lopping off the mount and grinding the cap flat with a dremel. Then drilling a hole in the center and putting a screw through from inside amd a rod end on top. Ugly but effective? *ha! Like a dravtech! Knew I saw something like that before. I saw that Natedog had got some Axial rubber inserts on one of his trucks. I can't remember the part number though.

I fought mine for a while, trying different methods but never found anything that I was pleased with. I run them with stock plastic caps and haven't looked back since. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

I know Natedog did put something together but got tired of searching through his thread with no luck. I may try those axial bushings. If it’s too much of a piece together deal, I’m just putting the plastic caps on the aluminum shocks and sending it. Thank you for the link! Ben |

I use Gmade shocks anyway. I use the same bushings as Natedog. They need a washer each side as they are pretty soft. I dont know what the problem is with the Vaterra aluminum shocks seeing as I don't have any.

Would be nice if the bushings were included, I’ve mentioned this to Vaterra, but more voices help, please email them if you agree. | ||

Yeah, the bushing definitely help. I have ordered some stuff from Junfac and noticed that Gmade make a 2 stage spring shock which seems to work in a similar way to the Trujillo mod. They should be here this week and will post about them.

I have an old team Losi racing 22 2.0 buggy, they have a pivot ball for the buggies alloy shocks, has anyone tried them yet? Maybe they will fit?

M1tch, like to see and read about the Junfac shocks you ordered, sounds nice! Yetistealth, those Losi bushings probably work, but od looks small, I was thinking JRX bushings. |

Natedog. Only 1 length I think (103mm) Gmade XD Dual Rate Diaphragm Shock 103mm (2) - JunFac What's the diameter of the hole in the Vaterra shocks? Plenty of rod ends that might be able to be used. The old style alternative is some silicon nitro fuel tubing. |

Thanks Natedog. Going off topic here really with those shocks. I used to race electric and nitro buggy and truggy. Sometimes a shock would lose a mount screw and all the other hardware. The silicon fuel tube was a bodge that lasted a long time. |

Thanks guy, I’m going to give those axial bushings a try. If I don’t like the , plastic caps and stock pivot balls it’ll be. Still blows my mind vaterra thought it was ok to sell something that is incomplete like that. Ben |
