how to set backlash

Diffs seem to have a lil to much play so am wondering how to fix?? what size shims? and do i need to shim the pinon the ring gear or both?

Thanks for the link Natedog, lots of good info to take in.... Question... when you said you didn't check if the front cvd's were (in phase), what exactly did you mean?

The pins in the CVDs, you want both the L and R sides to be the same direction.

_ _ = phase

| | = phase

_ | = Not in phase.
