Default HKSkook's Vattera 254mm Tamiya Bronco build.

Hello guys a while back I tried to research what Breadbox Bronco build I wanted to do. I'm trying to make it as scale to my Traxxas Bronco as I could. With little info on the Jconcepts Bronco I just felt it was too long. I decided to go with the Tamiya body. To use it on the Vattera I would need to get the wheelbase down to 254. So far I've cut the frame (both ends). I have it mocked up. I ordered gmade 54mm links. Using the wheel base guide Vattera provides going with 54mm links on bottom should get me within 2mm. I'm looking for any info on shocks and wheels I can find. Stock is 108mm I'm guessing maybe 90mm will look right with the 1.55 wheels I want to use. I will post pics as I get stuff in and get closer to completion. Any insight would be appreciated.

Awesome idea! Haven't seen a short TRX-4 yet. Nice start.

The 1/12 ECX Barrage Gen 2 would be a great fit for that Bronco body.

Too bad it's an Ascender.

Ascender axles can be narrowed as well. I've gotten them down to CC01 width (Tamiya Bronco size) fairly easily. Might be a good idea since the Tamiya body is so narrow.

Completely agree on the Bronco body, Tamiya does it best and most scale short of a hardbody. Great body choice, welcome to RCC and looking forward to your build. SVT923 has a nice build using this shell too.

Ok got the Gmade 54mm links in. They work perfect and will only need to make 1 custom one for the front top link. Rear shock angle is leaving a bit. However I think I will roll with it. Had to cut more off frame. Wheelbase is looking perfect.

Just a quick mock up with tires. Driveshafts have been cut. Everything went smooth. Need to order back body mount.

Little update. Body is mounted ready for paint. Screwed up a little in rear end but shouldnt be a issue. Haven't painted a 2 color scheme in a while so hoping I dont screw it up too bad. Tomorrow is more body trimming and paint prep.

Very cool.... I was thinking some less offset wheels would help tuck the tires, but there's not much room next to the steering knuckles. Not sure you could pull the tires in much more.

I assume the wheels are 1.9s. Short course wheels would probably clear the knuckles. Just a thought.

That's a good idea. I want to go 1.55 white wagons with 93mm tall tires. The ones on truck now are 108mm.

Just a quick update. Wheels and tires are in! Haven't had much time to work on it. What are the smallest RC4wd spacers to reduce back spacing?

These are the narrowest offset I've found and they work well. 1.55 wagon wheels would be sweet on here, looking good! Narrow the axles too maybe?

yeah narrow the axles for sure. and these wheel adapters are exactly what you need... eliminates the hex entirely to get the wheel right against the pin... if they will clear your knuckle though is the question...

OOps I linked adapters that I use for 1.9s, Shinchu has the nice and narrowest setup there for 1.55s.
