Default Ascender refresh

So I have been a huge fan of my ascender since the day I got it, and I have done a fair amount of stuff do it on my previous build thread, but it was time to start a new one.

First off here are some recent stuff before the revamp started.

Here is a quick run down

Ascender og kit still rocking non hd gears and plastic shafts

Gcm front trans kit
Sw4
Holmes 1800kv stubby revolver
Axial wraith knuckles and ar-44 universals
2 speed trans with metal gears
Ssd diff covers
Home engineered cantilever rear suspension
Rc4wd wheels, with pit bull pbx at’s
Rc4wd rear metal bumper
Axial roof rack and a light kit

The truck has been great, takes everything that is thrown at it and goes for more

Here are some recent ish runs before I pulled it apart

It was at this moment that the original non hd rear gears blew apart lol.

So now we get to the point of all this. I have had this body sitting around for. While and have been waiting to figure out what to do with it. So I opted to pull the blazer and give it a total face lift.

So I started fitting the cab first, which required some work to clear the revolver

Had to pull the floor carpet back for now.

Switched back to some more realistic wheels tires

Then I started working on the wood floor.

Wanted it to match my 1:1

I put some red cat gen 7 wheel wells in and started to figure out where I want to put the goods to keep it going.

Then I stuck the battery in and started to see how the ride height was.

Bed floor is starting to look legit

Swapped tires once again, not sure if these will stay on here or not yet...

Wasn’t happy with the suspension, so re engineered that to make it be hidden and perform exactly how I wanted

At the same time I also came up with a way to mount the bed that will be sturdy

Much better now

Next will be the road test. Stay tuned...

That looks gorgeous. Is that a custom body? The cab looks rc4wd but I haven't seen that box.

Like that body too.
Hope it crawls like you like.

Your correct. The cab is what’s left of a blazer. The bed is hand made from scratch.

Thanks for the kind words

So the day after I sorted out the suspension I wanted to go take it out for a road test before I really went too much further. Just wanted to make sure it worked more or less like I hoped, and to see how bad the run was from the too large but can’t find anything else I like at the moment tires.

It worked quite well, but I may end up going 1.55’s anyway, so I can get wheels that match my 1:1

Don’t mind the missing step, those will be massaged in the bodywork phase

Happy my front yard has this great test area in it, makes test drives easy.

More to come soon. Lots of body modifications coming next.

Looks like it crawls pretty good.
Those RC4WD rally wheels would be great on it. [shrug] 1.9's though. The new BFG K3 class-1's would work too.

I think 1.55s would look great!

You got a nice rock garden there at home. I'm not too far from the LHV.

Awesome job on the bed. Please please get rid of those wheels. They do not fit that truck size wise and style at all. 1.55’s will be perfect. Again, the bed is really nice and different.

I’m trying to match my 1:1 as close as I can so those wheels will not be staying regardless.

I’m probably going with the boom racing 1.55’s, at least that’s my thoughts at the moment. Still a ways to go

Great photos, especially where you launched into the lake. You don’t see the Ascender airborne so often. Both incarnataions of your Ascender look Top Notch.

We can thank that for revolver power haha. It’s pushing 13 lbs. and is still running stock plastic c’s and axle housings, but it likes a little air on occasion.

Congratulations on your new Ascender, please start your own thread and post picture of parts in question or link them to Horizon site pics.
