Traded the 110mm for some 90mm shocks of a trx4. For the K10 should lower the center of gravity.

I need to finish installing my upgrades - been running mine for ages with just the rears upgraded to TRX-4s using Boom Racing aluminum shock mounts, but the front mounts I got were defective.

Finally broke a plastic front shock mount the other day - need to install the full set of Atomik RC mounts I bought as replacements and add the front TRX-4 shocks when I'm done.

I've been running with nearly every SSD RC upgrade as well, and a BPC steel transverse battery tray.

Made my Ascender kinda overweight, but it's mostly down low, so it works great.

Other than the defective parts sounds like a great build.

Curious if anyone has tried AR45 axle swap. Not the AR44.

Up next I think it is time to raise up And tuck in the front bumper. Since I just need enough room for a small lightbar on the bumper. Body is low as as it gets.

So far I changed the. Motor from a Holmes Hobbies 550 45T motor as it was to slow on wheel speed. To a Holmes Hobbies 550 21T. Much more speed and still torquey enough to do the job. Could probably lower the pinion down. Only have a 16T pinion which will work for for now with the stock spur.

The Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster Sport 550 21t is what I have in mine, with the HobbyWing 1080WP esc.

I run a cheap DS3218 servo that has amazingly never quit on me, even with all the bashing I've done!

You'll love that motor...

Ill be testing it on the melting windrows of snow tomorrow. What pinion gear our you using and what battery voltage? Motor has at least 100km on it from my trx4 so its well broken in as well. liked its performance in the trx but since it went brushless the K10 will reuse the brushed motor. And it woke up the truck alot!

3S LiPo, and unfortunately I don't think I can remember my pinion size - I definitely started with 18t and may have moved to 16t...

A post from my build thread with a short video clip:

Ummm...

The snow should be all gone by the mid May. Mid 80's seems pretty nice for this time of the year.

So I'm building a new chassis for the Vaterra Ascender K10 what chassis would you recommend? that's easier to get parts for is the main reason.

I'd go with Element Enduro parts, they are quite common and noticeably less expensive than Axial SCX10 parts...

Which Kit or rtr would you suggest from them. I do have a TrailWalker4x4 rtr by them and other than the esc i been happy with it so far.

I thought you meant just build up another chassis to drop the Ascender onto.

They're all good, and the ESC for all the RTR versions has been upgraded to a better model.

Sendero HD, Gatekeeper, Ecto - all good stuff, in kit or RTR form.

They discontinued the Trailwalker.

I was just going to build a kit. But thought a rtr version would include the electronics that i dont have to make it run once i swap to the enduro chassis
