Last time I ran mine at Coyote Hills I thought I stripped out the tranny idler gears again but it ended up just being a stipped spur gear. It did not sound like a stripped spur gear at all which is what made me think it was the tranny again. Thanks. No, the 50% mode on the VXL would not help at all with slow speed crawling, it will still cog bad. The VXL training mode just limits full throttle to 50% for the Hawaiian drivers who like to drive on freeways at 50% of the speed limit. Last edited by badger; 03-05-2013 at 11:26 AM. | ||

| Re: Badger's Vaterra Twin Hammers 1.9 Rock Racer Maybe there were some out drives and dog bones sent out with an improper heat treat? It wouldn't surprise me at all. My dog bones are holding up fine but my out drive cups are apparently softer than they should be. The slots for the dogbone pins are wallowing out, for lack of a better term.

| Re: Badger's Vaterra Twin Hammers 1.9 Rock Racer Open the diff, clean out the grease, pour in epoxy, bolt back together, let cure 24 hours. Nope, it'll let loose sooner rather than later. Seen a few already. |

| Letting loose sooner rather than later is the idea. It works if your not trying to make this thing a dedicated crawler. It works for what I'm using the TH for and Im not breaking any parts with a Pro4.

AS awesome as the kit is, it is a wonder they used dog-bones at all and not universals or CVDs.

They are CVDs at the knuckle side but dog bone and cup at the diff.

I used silly putty (well, fimo clay) and it makes a great fuse. Almost acts as a slipper clutch or like a ratcheting locker.
