I'm a lucky one! My wife stands behind me in ALL my RC decisions because it's my hobby. She might not fully understand, but she manages me rambling on recent mods and talking about future purchases. She even used to have an SCX10 and went crawling with me! I lucked out. You convinced me BTW on the 5000mah packs. I'll be looking at some 2200mah 2s and 3s packs now. |

Hey Badger, another battery question. What are the discharge rates of the 3s packs you are running? 20c? 30c? 40c? etc?

I will say I'm glad I got one but now I guess I need to actually learn how to change things out instead of using whatever came with a RTR!

FYI: Horizon Hobby is currently back ordered on WP903 shifting servos and are using Mini 8ight servos as a replacement until stock replenishes. What does the Hitec 225mg require for horn/linkage fitment? |

Are the servos in this standard size or mini? Would a 450 heli metal gear servo work or would it need to be bigger? |

I was going to go the route that bonedog suggested which is the best solution for those that just want bolt and go, but ended up going with a JR ds3421 which is more expensive but also 60oz of torque vs the 40 of the Hitec. all great options and better then a 64g servo mounted up high.

The reality is you don't need much torque mate! As long as you set the end points right off the bat then it's all good. I do have a hitec on the way but I have been through 4 cycles on the standard battery and not had one issue yet with the factory one.

| Re: Badger's Vaterra Twin Hammers 1.9 Rock Racer Its all about prevention! You wouldn't put a 100A esc and then demand it to take 100A all the time, you would put a 120A esc in there because there are surges. Same with a servo. If the throw demands 30oz./in of throw to actuate, Then increasing the oz./in will give a little extra torque to help the throw and reduce stress on the servo. This isn't a solution for not maintaining the linkage or servo, but a preventive to prolong life.
