Default Vaterra Race Claw tires?

These new tires look like they would be really good on my SCX.

Anybody have a pic of Vaterra 1.9 Race Claw tires next to Proline 1.9 Flat Irons?

In Badgers build he said the tire size is 4.1" the Flatiron is 4.2". Trying to find out what the compound of the tire is or feels like.

And the answer is...

Bottom line, unless you absolutely hate the look or size of the stock tires, I don't see why anyone would want waste their money on new tires for this rig.

Many tires do not measure exactly true, so I would like to see next to Flat Irons, a tire that most everybody knows and Im' running a couple sets (un-cut and cut up tread patterns) on my 1.9er now.

That's because every rig is different weight, foams, suspension set up and COG. All that is going to change how tall a tire sits on a rig. But if you take the tire and lay it on its side it will measure true unless its stuffed with stiff foam.

That is true about installed height, but not every tire is true to it's dimensions printed on the sidewall either.

When you got small tires to start with, it's a lot.....1.4% height difference.

I cut my race claws similar to how I cut my flat irons and found they perform way way way better. This is the best pic I have of it for now. Going to work and dont have time to get a better shot. I also replaced the rock hard foams with ci med front and ci firm rear, all cheap $2 single stage stuff, it works great for me now crawling and bashing.

Alert!!
These things have a massive bead seat area. I was going to mount them on my TSS 1.9 Robby Gordon wheels but that ain't happening.

I'm just going to modify the stock wheels a bit and add a little weight for scaler applications. The stock wheels have a massive center channel which will be nice for adding weight internally.
I have also sent MThead the ring dimensions so you will be able to order custom delrin rings from him.

On another note, anyone who has ever owned 1:1 beadlocks knows how the rings taper inwards once torqued. Vaterra went so far as to design this into their rings. Hats off guys. Very cool for us scale fanatics. I think I'll be adding scale hardware to mine this weekend and drilling the rings for faux hardware.

News flash!!
I didn't even check before hand but as it turns out, the bead lock rings are the same as axials 1.9s. You can go ahead and order any of the popular delrin rings from Mthead or the aluminum rings from Locked Up RC. Or run the the super scale Vaterra rings on your axial wheels.
